Manager Sustainability

Houston, TX

The Manager Sustainability supports sustainability, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting and strategic initiatives for CEMEX. In coordination with cross-functional teams, this role requires collection, interpretation and written analysis of ESG data for dissemination within the company and with external stakeholders. This role will support building and maintaining strategic relationships with stakeholders - internal and external - that advance the Company’s sustainability strategy and enhance the Company’s reputation as an industry leader in sustainability, supporting business continuity. This position reports directly to the Director of Sustainability & Public Affairs.


Job Responsibilities

  • Implement a highly organized approach and structure to ensure focus and alignment among business units on sustainability initiatives, as well as timely and accurate ESG data collection and validation for annual Integrated Report and other ESG reporting efforts
  • Assist in evaluating or proposing sustainability initiatives, considering factors such as cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and acceptance, and support implementation of strategic sustainability initiatives
  • Identify opportunities and support applications for awards recognizing CEMEX sustainability performance
  • Help manage CEMEX’s institutional relationships with key stakeholders
  • Support programs directed at building public awareness and support for Company priorities and policies and enhance CEMEX’s reputation as an industry leader in ESG performance
  • Develop reports and presentations, as requested.
  • Provide content and editing support for Integrated Report and sustainability communications
  • Engage with colleagues to secure cross-functional collaboration on sustainability strategy and initiatives
  • Responsible for maintaining U.S. data management system and periodic internal reporting.
  • Prepare materials supporting CEMEX communications regarding sustainability activities in coordination with Corporate and Regional Public Affairs and Communications Teams.
  • Must comply with company safety rules and regulations and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or related field
  • Min. 4 years of technical experience, preferably in industrial sector
  • Min. 2 years of experience in ESG reporting preferred

  • Experience in external stakeholder engagement
  • Experience interacting with governmental agencies preferred
  • Team player with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience interacting with governmental agencies preferred
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Ability to search for allies among key stakeholders
  • Highly organized with a high level of initiative and drive
  • Ability to handle sensitive/confidential information
  • Focus on the implementation of tasks and achievement of set goals
  • Good knowledge of the use of MS Office programs (extensive experience with Excel and PowerPoint preferred)
  • Comfortable with information management systems and databases
  • Experienced driver with valid driver’s license


Working Conditions

  • Ability to travel overnight as needed
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment
  • Ability to work with standard office/computer Equipment
  • Capable of working in an open office environment  


Physical Requirements

  • Requires sitting/standing in front of a computer for extended periods of time
  • Requires strict adherence to all safely rules within an office environment and industrial plant locations where PPE is required
