Manager, Sustainability

San Francisco, CA

We are looking for a Manager to play a key role in the creation and implementation of sustainability programs for Chase Center. In this role, you will motivate team members to engage and participate in local and state programs while crafting programs for the district. This position reports to the Sr. Director, Sustainability & Hygiene.

This is full-time role based in San Francisco, CA.


Willingness and ability to provide proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination will be required. All religious, medical, or other legally recognized exemptions regarding vaccination status will be considered.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage sustainability program implementation and evaluation with managers and departments
  • Lead and guide internal teams to achieve operational performance targets and model proper sustainable workplace practices
  • Develop new policies and procedures to enhance environmental responsibility across operations and departments within regulatory compliance
  • Coordinate efforts of Green Teams to set goals and adopt new programs; track impact and lead internal audits (waste and recycling separation, energy and water use, etc.)
  • Gather data, economic analyses and background research to create reports on sustainability efforts and present findings to stakeholders
  • Represent the Sustainability team in partner engagements and provide subject matter support; support development of partnerships with external partners that leverage and expand the impact of GSW’s sustainability strategy with community groups and public/private agencies
  • Assist Engineering management in the development of departmental KPIs; build on success to set bolder goals and initiatives moving forward
  • Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of environmental programs mandated by federal, state and local laws
  • Manage sustainability communication to staff, the general public, partners, and community organizations,
  • Assist with the development of program budgets


Required Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business Administration/Environmental Science, or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years of growing professional experience managing and implementing sustainability programs; LEED Accredited Professional preferred
  • Experience in supply chain operations, logistics, facilities management, sustainability engineering, corporate sustainability, and/or organizational change preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong project management skills; ability to balance multiple priorities in a demanding and fast-paced work environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (e.g., Sustainability, Product, Communications, Engineering)
  • Passion for sustainability, social & environmental impact and innovation
