Manager, Strategic Initiatives

The Strategic Initiatives team plays a meaningful role in developing strategies that will have longer term impact as well as identifying and evaluating opportunities which may accelerate existing strategies.


Our team uses financial, operational, and strategic frameworks and skills to evaluate and make recommendations for the best long-term investment opportunities for Spotify, partnering across the company with executives and product stakeholders to drive initiatives toward execution.


What you'll do

  • Support strategic evaluation and framework-driven product and business recommendations across all of Spotify’s business units
  • Work with other Strategy and Corporate Development team members to assess opportunities for Spotify’s core and emerging investment areas and to develop build / buy / partner recommendations
  • Design, compile, and analyze research, drawing across the breadth of internal analysis and external intelligence covering the industry landscape and key consumer segments
  • Prepare and deliver presentations which translate learnings from research and analysis into effective discussions for relevant internal executives and stakeholders
  • Iterate on your previous work by observing early performance and stakeholder feedback, placing an emphasis on continuous improvement and impact of your work
  • Own in-depth analysis to strengthen our product and business strategy, aligning data-driven insights with industry trends and opportunities
  • Work across global offices with distributed business unit teams
  • Collaborate with relevant external stakeholders as applicable, manage deliverables


Who you are

  • Strong academic qualifications (MBA preferred, with Finance, Engineering, or Business undergraduate fields)
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy and planning, or financial analysis (technology and/or media experience preferred)
  • Strong business, financial analysis and modeling skills
  • Strong judgment and ability to drive work independently and across internal functions, to translate analysis into business and product opportunity statements, developing and then proving out hypotheses in observed data / performance, identifying risks and their mitigation paths
  • Ability to create and deliver clear, persuasive presentation materials, including written business narratives that influence decision-making and position us to execute
