Manager, Social Media

Culver City, CA

Sony Pictures Entertainment is seeking a Social Media Manager, who will follow a film campaign from start to finish, beginning with project announcement, production, moving through the core marketing campaign, to its theatrical and in-home releases. The role will act as community manager across all platforms, implementing innovative social strategies while promoting positive brand conversation and engagement for the studio and its film releases. 


Page Management

  • Manage the day-to-day execution of each film’s social media strategy, including scheduling, posting, and community managing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, and other emerging social platforms
  • Act as community manager across all platforms, promoting positive brand conversation and engagement, addressing complaints when applicable, and engaging with talent and partner posts
  • Coordinate social account setup and verification for each film and naming of handles


Digital Content & Reporting

  • Build and oversee the content calendar to plan optimized content for each platform including conceptualizing and writing all posts
  • Work closely with Digital Media team and third party agencies to launch paid promotion of all social content on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and drive optimizations by testing new techniques, analyzing performance data, and making recommendations regarding shifting resources to top performing posts
  • Continually work with Digital Creative Executives to evolve social media strategy to align with broader marketing campaigns and goals. Proactively work with them to develop and deliver best-in-class digital content (including series) including, but not limited to, images, videos, cinemagraphs, GIFs, Instagram Stories and more
  • Manage the material launches (trailers/posters/clips/vignettes) on each social page, scheduling and identifying the needs and approach for talent and partners to share
  • Collaborate with Home Entertainment, Music, Consumer Products, Promotions and Field Publicity Teams to plan and schedule social content and posting requests on film’s pages as it pertains to each campaign
  • Report weekly on organic posts to analyze highest performing digital content
  • Outline the recommended types of social content and posting cadence to accomplish each film’s social media goals and to increase page growth
  • Update Film Key Dates with social page stats on a weekly basis


Social

  •  Develop an ongoing relationship with Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat partners to expedite requests and processes when launching materials
  •  Identify what captures people’s attention on social and drives conversation. Keep finger on the pulse of social trends, new platform features and best practices, providing channel and community insights with actionable next steps on an ongoing basis
  • Coordinate and execute live social media events including activities at press junkets, premieres, special events, talent Q&As, etc.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 4 - 5 years of digital/social marketing experience
  • Proficiency with Photoshop
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including social copywriting skills
  • Robust experience with publishing and analytics tools for all social platforms
  • Previous experience in similar digital marketing/social strategy within entertainment is a plus
  • Strong planning, project management and presentation skills
  • Understanding of creative development process and media planning
  • Knowledge and strong interest in pop culture, social platforms and influencer talent
  • Experience working cross-functionally and with outside agencies
  • Knowledge of MS Suite Tools (Excel, Word, Power Point) and file formats and compressions
