Babylist is looking for a hands-on PR, Brand & Communications manager to accelerate our brand love and awareness. We have built a beloved brand over the past 10+ years and are ready to share our story with the world. We recently brought on a PR agency and have worked with high-profile expecting parents Halsey and Shea McGee. This first-time hire will accelerate those efforts and introduce new strategies. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, managing large projects that ladder up to corporate priorities while paying attention to the details. You’ll report to the Director, Editorial & Brand and closely collaborate with the VP, Revenue, Director, Growth Marketing, and CEO.


We’re looking for an ambitious and strategic PR, Brand and Communications leader to join the Babylist team. This person will be the first dedicated Communications hire and will head up all PR and Communications efforts for the company. This person will be responsible for building the company’s PR strategy, managing external agencies and partners, and supporting internal communications needs. 


Who You Are

  • You’re an expert in storytelling - turning tactics and launches into strategic stories
  • You’re on top of media, ecommerce, and employment branding trends
  • You’re skilled at the art and science of PR and brand. You understand the goals and metrics along with the feelings
  • You’re able to make recommendations that balance PR goals, brand voice, business objectives and user experience
  • You’re great at networking and have existing media relationships in digital, print, and broadcast
  • You are creative, consistent, and collaborative


What You’ll Do

  • You’ll conceptualize and execute brand tentpoles that grow customer love and brand awareness 
  • You’ll lead ongoing meetings with our external agency
  • You’ll ensure internal and external partners are updated on key strategic priorities and tactics
  • You’ll support corporate and trade marketing through integrated work, from making presentations to telling stories to securing press coverage
  • You’ll own all corporate communications, from team and press pages to press releases and presentations 
  • You’ll evangelize the power of brand and PR to internal teams 
  • You’ll create playbooks and materials to support cross-functional work
  • You’ll work across paid and organic marketing to align goals and make everything we do even bigger
  • You’ll develop and own relationships with social impact organizations, celebrities, and influencers
  • You’ll create the most iconic brand in the family and baby category


What You’ve Done

  • You’ve managed an external PR agency for a consumer brand
  • You’ve implemented a new PR strategy that has led to high-quality coverage
  • You’ve landed coverage in high-quality trade outlets, such as Forbes, WSJ, NYTimes, Digidate
  • You’ve developed partnerships that have led to PR coverage
  • You’re a strong and strategic writer
  • You have an integrated marketing approach and experience working cross-functional
  • You’ve been a scrappy but thorough project manager, able to share goals and context, and lead cross-functional internal and external teams
  • You’re a great collaborator with content, acquisition and design teams
  • You have 5+ years experience
