The Global Advertising and Brand Management department at American Express is responsible for creating marketplace demand and driving commerce through breakthrough marketing, differentiated partnerships, and innovative enterprise-wide brand platforms. This role is part of the Global Engagement Platforms and Design team, within Global Advertising and Brand Management. This team drives platforms that have a direct impact on how we show up as a brand visually, and in ways we are represented in the marketplace that our customers are passionate about.


The Manager Multicultural Platforms will be a member of this team, responsible for determining how and where our brand authentically shows up by developing an approach that taps into what we socially stand for as a brand.


This position will act as a Center of Excellence for brand programs relating to diversity and inclusion.


This person will collaborate with the right stakeholders to bring the team vision to life. They will excel at collaboration and driving programs to fruition with multiple stakeholders to ensure the brand is represented in connection to the right cultural events and showing up in the right places.


Stakeholders include Global Commercial Services, Global Merchant Services, Corporate Communications, agency partners, colleagues in GABM who lead brand strategy, social, media, content, and finally the local teams representing our key markets around the world.


This position will report to the Director of Cultural Platforms.


This experienced marketer must have the following qualifications:

  • Proven track record for developing and executing long-term strategic plans, versed in analytics and consumer insights
  • Creative approach with drive to do incredible work
  • Deep interest in culture and a pulse on worldwide events and trends
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience with creative agencies and social platforms would be ideal
  • Executive presence and presentation skills are important, and the successful candidate must be an effective communicator at all levels of organizations
  • High energy, self-starter, team-oriented, entrepreneurial spirit with flexibility to thrive in a fluid work environment
  • MBA preferred
