Manager, Marketing Communications

At MONAT, we continually seek fresh ways to inform and engage our customers across all communication channels with clear, compelling, exciting content that inspires action. Our Marketing Communications team seeks a high-energy, detail-oriented, product-savvy Manager, Marketing Communications to support these efforts by leading the writing and editing of content for MONAT Customers and independent distributors, known as Market Partners.


This role will focus primarily on product-related collateral including flash sale emails, multichannel product marketing campaigns, product education materials, commercial and how-to video scripts, packaging and label copy, event presentations, and much more. The ideal candidate will be a genuine copy chameleon: able to adapt and display brilliance regardless of the topic or channel, ranging from instant hooks in flash sale emails to in-depth descriptions of our naturally based ingredients and their benefits. Experience in supervising and editing the work of other copywriters is required. Copywriting and editing experience in the fields of beauty, personal care, and/or fashion.


Responsibilities

• Lead the concept development, writing, and editing of weekly flash sale content that includes marketing emails and corresponding social media content, website shopping cart copy, FAQ, and other related materials. Consistently deliver fresh and engaging subject lines, headlines, and body copy that compels customers to engage and buy.

• Lead the writing and editing of product-related content including educational emails, product info sheets, packaging and label copy, how-to video scripts, commercial video scripts, product communiques, launch materials for new products, blogs, and more. Collaborate regularly with the Product Marketing, Product Education, and Creative teams to complete these materials.

• Assign, supervise, advise, and edit the work of an on-staff copywriter and freelance writers hired as needed.

• Ensure all copy is consistent across channels and follows brand voice guidelines, and contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of those guidelines. Collaborate with the creative design team to ensure copy and design remain on-message and on-brand for our audiences.

• Support “pop up” urgent communications as needed to inform customers of operational or technical issues such as backorders, product substitutions, website functionality issues, etc.

• Support the Director of Marketing Communications in determining copy and communications strategy.

• Provide miscellaneous writing, proofing, and editing support as needed to internal partners.


Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications, or related discipline

• A strong portfolio of work that includes product marketing emails, packaging, and demonstrates versatility and superb attention to detail

• Minimum 4–7 years of professional copywriting experience with solid portfolio of work

• Minimum 2 years of experience in an editorial role, supervising the work of a copywriting team while also personally contributing copy

• Extreme attention to detail and proficiency in proofreading and fact-checking a must

• Professional-level proficiency in the rules of grammar and technical writing are a must

• Beauty, fashion, personal care, and/or direct sales experience strongly preferred

• Ability to work independently and with a team to meet deadlines

• Excellent organizational skills, multitasking ability, and ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment where priorities can quickly change

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat Pro
