Manager, Marketing and Communications

Delta Cargo is dedicated to maintaining and improving Delta Cargo’s brand through the delivery of best-in-class Products and Services in parallel, fostering world-class customer engagement to achieve the Delta Customer Experience. At the same time, we are building stronger relationships with our Global Elite customers (freight forwarders) to SME businesses worldwide and B2C. The Cargo Commercial team supports B2B and B2C customers by offering relevant products, services, communications, tools, and programs that drive critical revenue to Delta. We have a highly talented team and are looking for the best innovators and thought leaders.


We are seeking a manager who will be responsible for the development and execution of B2B communications and marketing strategies to advance the Delta Cargo brand in the industry, among existing freight forwarders and growing business for small to medium customers. The Manager will be responsible for leading efforts to communicate Delta and Cargo strategic priorities for business audiences across relevant channels via comprehensive planning. This position will work collaboratively with both Airport Customer Service, (ACS), Marketing and Corporate Communications to ensure alignment with corporate messaging and strategy. Additionally, this individual supports Cargo Revenue Management, Operations, Network and Sales Development to deliver appropriate marketing materials and communications to Cargo Field Sales and Commercial teams about policy changes, projects and relevant business updates.


This position is responsible for:

  • Provides thought-leadership and strategic thinking, exhibiting deep understanding of both the Delta and Cargo business and competitors and develop comprehensive Marketing plans, working with leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Tailor messages to meet the needs and preferences of the market.
  • Develop and execute internal communications for Cargo commercial employees and Operations leaders ensuring they are aware and equipped to present the most accurate and recent information about the business.
  • Represent Delta Cargo’s brand in the B2B space through email communication, , LinkedIn, deltacargo.com
  • Build effective relationships with airline partners to ensure strong collaboration on projects that span across all airlines.
  • Provides development and coaching to prepare employees for their career at Delta.
  • Practices safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
  • Lead message development for strategic divisional and company-wide initiatives and consults with channel owners to execute a communications plan across platforms to develop and distribute the assets
  • Develops content roadmaps that connect the dots across channels and deliver a unified and coherent message to target audiences.
  • Oversees content and production of key Cargo events including but not limited to Global Cargo Conference, Advisory Board, Sales events and tradeshows
  • Support development of talking points and presentations for Cargo leadership to communicate the broader strategic message. Translates leadership visions into easily consumable employee messages.
  • Oversees Commercial employee communications including drafting leader memos, divisional announcements, creating internal videos and owning Deltanet and SkyHub Cargo pages.
  • Understands the Cargo business and stays on the pulse of B2B industry trends and conversation, to understand impacts and perceptions of business audiences.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine by date of hire to be considered for U.S.-based job, if not currently employed by Delta Air Lines, Inc.
  • Recommended 7-10 years of experience in marketing and communications.
  • Demonstrates strong project management skills and is a pro-active self-starter. Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Must have expert knowledge in the Microsoft suite of products.
  • A natural storyteller—a highly articulate and persuasive writer and speaker with fluency and agility to quickly develop communications strategies. Must have the ability find the meaningful angle to a message and the ability to make connections to news and happenings throughout our business and industry, leveraging our brand style and tone to effectively shape messages and content for target audiences.
  • Able to simplify/synthesize complex data from a variety of sources and then communicate solutions in a simple, fresh perspective that clearly outlines the roles and deliverables of marketing channels
  • Possesses analytical mindset and innate curiosity, valuing research, insight, metrics, and data-driven decision-making
  • Develops positive relationships across all levels of seniority cross-functionally, leveraging communications and project management skills to ensure consistency and alignment between all stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills, bringing others along, inspiring high performance, and developing talent.

  • The role is Atlanta based and will require travel up to 10% of the time.

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE (PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Knowledge and experience with Marketing Cloud Automation and Salesforce.com is preferred.
  • Experience working in an international market or with customers based outside of the US.
  • Ability to speak in Spanish and/or Portuguese.
  • 7+ years of content marketing or communications experience
  • MBA or advanced communications degree
