The Manager, Global Consumer Insights will play a crucial role in working with key stakeholders to build the overall market strategy of the organization by leveraging data-driven insights and consumer behavior analysis. The role will be being the global subject matter expert responsible for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting market research data to provide actionable recommendations to drive marketing effectiveness and business growth.
This role requires a deep understanding of marketing research analytics, consumer research methodologies, and the ability to translate insights into strategic initiatives and is able to serve as respected subject matter expert engaging with strategic customer branding and insights teams. This individual will help generate new business and growth opportunities, and position Ball as a thought leader regarding packaging insights with our customers.
What will you be responsible for?
- Market Research Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive market research strategy to support the organization's marketing objectives. Define research objectives, methodologies, and KPIs to gather relevant insights into target markets, customer segments, and competitive landscapes.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation: Work with Analytics and the cross-business stakeholders to oversee the collection and analysis of marketing data from various sources, including customer surveys, focus groups, social media analytics, and sales data. Output will reveal trends, patterns, and opportunities that inform marketing decision-making.
- Customer Insights Engagement, Influence and Partnership: Serves as insights expert for Ball (best in class in the industry) and engages with strategic customer's branding, insights and marketing teams, sharing analytics and insights, building a collaborative relationship with customers' insights teams to drive opportunities for growth.
- Insight Fact-base: Drive a culture of data-driven decision-making within the organization by promoting the use of market research insights to inform strategic initiatives, mitigate risks, and optimize resource allocation. Develop robust frameworks and tools for analyzing and interpreting market data to guide business strategy.
- Consumer Behavior Analysis: Deep dive into consumer behaviors, preferences, and motivations to understand their needs and desires. Identify key drivers of consumer engagement and loyalty and translate insights into actionable strategies to enhance customer experiences and drive brand affinity. Expertise Building: Develop expertise on the unique characteristics, challenges, needs, buying behaviors of customers and prospects for the beverage industry; collaborates with internal teams such as Commercial, Innovation, Engineering, Marketing, and the broader Ball organization as needed.
- Strategic Recommendations: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, innovation/product development, and sales, to develop strategic recommendations based on market insights. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to optimize marketing campaigns, product positioning, and pricing strategies.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, innovation/product development, sales, and finance, to integrate market insights into strategic planning, product innovation, marketing campaigns, and go-to-market strategies. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership by providing timely and relevant insights to support decision-making. Portfolio research: Conduct portfolio research and provide strategic support using detailed insights on topics such as sustainability, technology, digital, channels, customers, and industry value chain.
What are we looking for?
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, marketing, or data with a preference towards an advanced degree (MBA or higher)
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in market research, including designing and executing both qualitative and quantitative studies.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in work of consumer preferences, motivations, and purchasing patterns. Experience analyzing customer journeys, identifying touchpoints, and understanding decision-making processes will be valuable.
Analytics:
- analyzing data and interpreting insights to inform customers, commercial, and strategy leaders.
- looking at opportunities from data and insights to inform product and company innovation opportunities
- presenting complex data in simplified ways to senior stakeholders, including commercial leadership, customer leadership and strategy leadership.
Marketing:
- developing a market research strategy, translating that into opportunity pipelines and conveying that message.
Influence:
- influencing large and strategic customer brand and insights professionals, including seen as equal and respected subject matter expert with ability to influence growth opportunities through data.
Knowledge of:
- Various market research methodologies, including surveys, focus groups, and competitor analysis, is crucial. Understanding how to gather and interpret data from these sources is essential for informed decision-making.
- Various tools and analysis of large datasets, identify trends, and extract actionable insights.
- Consumer behavior, including factors influencing purchasing decisions, preferences, and trends, is essential. This understanding helps shape product development, marketing strategies, and category management.
- Project management practices, including prioritization, planning, and execution, are necessary to meet deadlines and deliver valuable insights.
- Conveying complex messages to various stakeholder levels, including interpreting analysis to business leaders, internal stakeholders, and customer insights/branding teams.
Compensation & Benefits:
Hiring Salary Range: $93,100 – 154,000 Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
This role will be eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan, with a EVAIC Target of 15%.
