Manager, Finance

Reporting to Director Finance, the Manager, Finance position provides the join between commercial operations and manufacturing/ supply chain operations. Holder of this position is encouraged to actively participate in Operations & Supply Chain strategy setting in order to ensure customer demand is satisfied timely, at optimized cost and with the greatest efficiency, through cross pollination of standard methodology across value streams.


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Enhance Financial Reporting and Forecasting Process of commercial manufacturing
  • Enhance business partnership with operations and supply chain leadership to proactively accelerate effective decision making and drive accountability across all functions
  • Ensure appropriate valuation of inventory; provide analytics to interpret key cost drivers and remedial actions required; provide clear insight on machine hours produced and sold as well as absorption of related costs
  • Conduct detailed analysis on core operational accounts: absorption, work order variance, purchase price variance, direct labor, direct material, and overhead costs.
  • Provide leadership on Operation & Supply Chain Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Forecast process.
  • Drive departmental ownership of budgets and forecasts. Assists department managers in understanding and meeting their commitments.
  • Develop and implement a regular business review cadence with department managers
  • Create a robust cost optimization/ productivity reporting and accountability in the organization
  • Actively interpret and review financial and business results with leadership, including trends/issues and opportunities, to drive concrete responses
  • Assist Supply Chain teams in the preparation of financial models and arguments
  • Proactively respond to various regular and ad-hoc reporting/ projects as well as being a resource on various accounting and reporting issues
  • Perform month end close activities as needed
  • Drive continuous improvements to department procedures and processes to improve efficiency.
  • Develop staff while promoting and following the Thermo Fisher values of integrity, intensity, innovation and involvement.
  • Help oversee financials of capital projects ensuring we are reviewing business cases and holding ourselves accountable to ROI and timely closure of projects


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with 5 to 10 years of progressive experience in operations finance, cost accounting and supply chain finance
  • Strong leadership, management, and teamwork skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Power BI skillset highly desired
  • Detail oriented and possess good analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, be able to balance multiple projects concurrently, and be driven to meet deadlines as required
