Manager Environmental Health and Safety

Homestead, FL

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for implementing and leading our safety vision at the two Homestead Cultivation locations and Homestead Processing and Packaging facility. The EHS Manager will be a leader of continuous improvement and risk management strategy through effective implementation of Safety SOPs and training to advance health and safety within our facilities.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop site safety programs and facilitate training for multiple work locations
  • Interact with personnel at multiple locations to promote the safety program
  • Establish and conduct new employee safety orientation
  • Administer and record new employee participation in the safety orientation program
  • Conduct or facilitate safety training in person or through Curaleaf’s LMS
  • Attend vendor meetings as necessary to clearly define their role within the confines of the Curaleaf Safety Program
  • Establish, conduct, and document regular safety meetings with staff
  • Conduct daily work area inspections and report findings to Regional Safety Manager on a weekly schedule – noting unsafe conditions/activities and corrective actions
  • Identify, evaluate, and control hazards related to greenhouse, laboratory, and packaging and processing operations
  • Record, notify, and prepare written report of any violations or unsafe practices to employees or subcontractors for immediate correction actions
  • Stop any violation or unsafe practice immediately
  • Investigate all incidents and generate proper reports
  • Establish and maintain all required job safety records
  • Conduct or facilitate required monthly inspections of emergency equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, AEDs, fire alarms)
  • Develop and maintain emergency action plans; conduct necessary drills
  • Assist with the management of workers’ compensation claims
  • Attend staff meetings to brief the staff on project and company safety issues and to keep informed of the progress of the job


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a safety management leadership role
  • Knowledge of safety principles and techniques
  • Knowledge of the following OSHA and EPA standards or guidelines:
  • Hazard Communication
  • Occupational Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories
  • Lockout Tagout
  • Permit Required Confined Space
  • Respiratory Protection
  • Worker Protection Standard
  • Prevention of Heat Related Illnesses
  • Forklift Operations
  • Hazardous Waste Management and Disposal
  • Capable of identifying known/potential exposures and recommending corrective actions
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct safety training
  • Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs
  • Strong management, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing


Preferred Qualifications and Requirements:

  • ASP, CSP, CIH, or CHMM certification
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
  • 10% Travel is Required
