We are looking to hire an Engineer Manager to work in our Manufacturing Facility in Cumberland, RI.


The Manager of Engineering will partner with operational leaders to develop and implement process improvement priorities. The Manager will be responsible for implementing the prioritized solutions on time, on quality, and on budget. Outcomes include developing efficient manufacturing processes, quality failure improvements, time studies, and significant corrective action activities to name a few. The Manager will also direct continuous improvement efforts in partnership with manufacturing managers and supervisors. Provide staff mentoring and development to strengthen the engineering group’s capabilities.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide proactive safety and health leadership by recognizing and rewarding employees who demonstrate good safety and health behaviors and providing immediate, specific, and constructive feedback to employees who violate safety requirements or demonstrate unsafe work behaviors.
  • Identify workplace hazards, investigate incidents, educate all direct reports on established safety requirements, and ensure ongoing compliance with applicable safety-related policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership to the Engineering Team regarding performance expectations and feedback, technical solutions, and career development.
  • Implement process improvements that drive substantial reductions in quality failures (scrap) across all manufacturing departments. Develop existing manufacturing processes that provide predictable quality and a baseline for year-over-year productivity gains. These substantial reductions will be numerically defined as part of the annual manufacturing goals. Manage significant corrective action activity regarding process-related efforts. 
  • Partner with manufacturing management to construct and manage an approved unified project list. Publish and speak to these unified efforts in various employee settings. 
  • Interface inter-departmentally to generate, document, change and control engineering-related data as needed for Drawings, Bill of Material, Routing Sequences, Process Flow Charts, Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions.


Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering or Technical discipline or 10+ years equivalent related experience
  • Experience in manufacturing components and assemblies
  • Experience in multiple manufacturing processes
  • Extensive Project Management skills (MS Project, other)
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills using lean six sigma tools
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Skills
  • Highly organized and capable of managing a group with an extensive number of active projects and competing priorities


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in an Engineering discipline
  • Knowledge of modern jewelry manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of JD Edwards or other enterprise systems (s)
  • Six Sigma Blackbelt Certification
  • Project Management Certification
