Manager, Corporate Communications

Toronto, ON

The Corporate Communications team is an essential partner to the business. A growing team, we are seeking a dynamic Manager, Corporate Communications, ready for an energizing career experience. Reporting to the VP, Communications and Public Relations, the Manager will play a leadership role in our organization and most especially, the Corporate Communications team. This position will be essential in the effective and successful delivery of the department’s strategic plan. The incumbent will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Play a key role in the development and execution of the annual Corporate Communications functional plan
  • Support business transformation efforts, including development of strategic communication and corresponding communication materials to effectively reach all stakeholders
  • Develop and advise on communications strategies and tactics that align with corporate priorities and the objectives of key business partners
  • Craft communications materials for senior leaders, including but not limited to, key messages, speaking notes, announcements, and video scripts
  • Advance employee engagement, company culture, and leadership vision through effective internal communication practices
  • Oversee operations and enhancement of all internal communications channels, include company Intranet
  • Contribute to the Corporate Communications team’s measurement plan, including developing and tracking metrics to measure the impact of communications efforts
  • Provide counsel, support, and coaching to members of the Corporate Communications team
  • Respond swiftly during times of issues or crisis, providing strategic counsel to protect the company’s reputation
  • Keep current on emerging trends/ developments and grow knowledge of the business, related tools, and techniques
  • Continuously enhance the services of the Corporate Communications team by bringing new and innovative practices forward 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with experience writing for senior leadership
  • Capable of translating complex ideas into clear, compelling messaging and consistent corporate voice
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with a proven track record of building effective relationships with senior leaders, business partners, and teammates
  • Ability to prioritize among competing requests, embrace change, and demonstrate diplomacy, professionalism, and a positive attitude
  • Passion for advancing the communication discipline in a fast-paced business
  • Ability to handle sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality
  • Experience in public markets and cannabis industry knowledge considered an asset

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, or similar discipline
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in Communications or Public Relations, within fast-paced sectors
