Manager, Corporate Communications

New York City, NY

As a member of the Communications team at News Corp Headquarters (HQ), the Corporate Communications Manager will work to develop, manage and execute communications that serve external and internal audiences.


We are seeking an organized, self-motivated, technology-savvy Manager to work on a range of communications projects for the Company. The ideal candidate will be a positive, trusted partner, brand ambassador and someone who can make and maintain connections with relevant people across the global organization and with external media. This position reports to Director, Corporate Communications.


Location: This role will be based in our NYC (Midtown Manhattan) office and the expectation is that the successful candidate will be fully onsite once the office reopens.


External Communications Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Research, draft, edit and circulate for approval news releases; once approved, distribute via newswires, mailing lists, and the Internet, including on News Corp’s external website and social channels
  • Handle incoming media inquiries and monitor media mailbox
  • Engage in research to gather articles and other information for use in briefing memoranda, speeches, op-eds and other communications
  • Assist in the writing and design of PowerPoints or other presentation material for use by executives in speeches and at events.
  • Work with News Corp Business Unit (BU) communications teams to create and maintain a schedule of public events, interviews and other appearances by leading BU executives, as well as BU announcements and events
  • Ongoing maintenance of the News Corp external website
  • Manage News Corp social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) and help execute strategy, including writing content, generating creative and tracking and reporting on usage and engagement
  • Create and maintain media mailing lists
  • Participate as part of the team engaged in “rapid response” gathering and review of news coverage about News Corp quarterly earnings and other announcements to ensure accuracy of reporting
  • Monitor social media and other news sources for developments of interest to HQ stakeholders; assist in the creation and distribution of media updates to the News Corp executive team


Internal Communications Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Help create and coordinate communication plans with executives and non-executive support staff, including the promotion of News Corp communication and collaboration tools and technology initiatives. This includes coordination with News Corp’s philanthropy, ESG and shared services teams
  • Manage internal communications channels and operations for a global corporate audience, which includes supporting the development and distribution of key messaging, ongoing maintenance of News Corp intranet sites, and liaising with key corporate functions to coordinate priorities and ensure consistency
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of employee engagement events and initiatives (e.g. News Corp virtual “events”)
  • Assist with the preparation, design and distribution of media updates for key executives
  • Routinely measure and report out to stakeholders on established KPIs indicating the impact of internal communications and related initiatives


Required Skills and Experience:

  • BA or equivalent work experience in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or Content Marketing
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Clear and creative thinker with strong ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Curious / growth mindset
  • Proofreading or copyediting
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience with fields of media and publishing, digital real estate, legal, finance and/or technology a plus
  • Ability to interact with media in a discrete, professional manner
  • Demonstrated ability to write news releases, briefing memoranda, op-eds, speeches and a variety of internal communications (including newsletters)
  • Ability to collaborate with technologists and translate their work for lay employee and external audiences
  • Proficiency with Content Management Systems (CMS), preferably WordPress, an Email Service Provider (ESP), and G-Suite
  • Ability to create PowerPoint presentations, email templates, etc.
  • Social media management experience
  • Comfortable with analytics software such as Adobe Analytics/ Omniture or Google Analytics
  • Basic understanding of digital publishing technology
