Manager, Corporate Accounting

Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

After you onboard, you will learn about VMware’s inventory and cost accounting policies and processes and other non-revenue accounting policies. You will work closely with cross functional teams to implement system enhancements to scale and automate accounting close procedures. With your technical accounting expertise and knowledge in inventory and cost accounting, you will be the technical accounting resource to various finance and business operations teams and will assist with research on technical accounting matters.


What type of work will I be doing? What assignments or requirements will I be performing on a regular basis?

  • Leveraging your U.S. GAAP technical accounting expertise and knowledge in inventory and cost accounting (ASC 330), you will participate in a timely monthly close, oversee day-to-day accounting activities and ensure compliance with internal controls.
  • You will partner with cross functional teams on inventory accounting and system integration for new SKUs and product categories and implementation of system enhancements for inventory and cost accounting processes
  • You will perform technical accounting research on various accounting areas (e.g., ASC 340, ASC 718, etc.) and prepare technical accounting memos 
  • You will assist with quarterly and annual internal/external audit requests and liaison with external auditors
  • You will also have the opportunity to participate in cross-functional projects that leverage your expertise and will provide growth opportunities.

This role reports to the Senior Manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting within the Corporate Accounting team with team members working at VMware’s Palo Alto, CA, and Cork, IE, offices. This role is flexible and can be done from home, in an office, or a combination of the two anywhere in the United States.
