Manager Communication Delivery

The Manager Communication Delivery role has two primary responsibilities. The manager is responsible for planning, directing, and maintaining the operational health of their respective business unit(s) and product(s) assigned to their teams. This person is also a people leader that drives team engagement, development, and goals. The manager will also provide escalation support, and issue resolution. Excellent communication and organizational skills. A confident and clear communicator that can inspire and motivate a team of people to be their best. Able to make difficult decisions quickly after doing their due diligence and assessing all available options. Willing to take ownership for their teams’ successes and failures. This role requires the ability to wear many hats at once. An effective manager will develop a track record of successfully seeing multiple projects through from conception to completion. 


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support, oversight and manage all staff reporting into the position 
  • Oversight and management of recurring process for new team members (including but not limited to recruiting, training, performance evaluation) 
  • Oversight of end-to-end communication delivery 
  • Creating training plans and development plans 
  • Manage resource and project allocation within their team. Create work schedules, identify backup support, and manage PTO approval for team members
  • Owns Corrective Action remediation within assigned group (vendor, workflow and personnel) 
  • Owns the strategic direction of their portfolio, ensuring optimal client support, execution, and value 
  • Drive strategic initiatives within their team as defined by leadership and business owners
  • Manages costs, overhead, and all factors affecting the efficient performance of the products and people under their oversight
  • Review and confirm accuracy of the forecasting and reporting of volume, spend and performance metrics for members of their team and the products they support
  • Manage the staffing (FTE) allocation reports to internal Finance team 
  • Meets with direct reports on regular basis to review goals, provide direction, resolve issues and discuss career development
  • Drive priorities and objectives with internal clients and business partners
  • Collaborate in the creation of policies, processes, and procedures when gaps are identified
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of communication processes and workflows 
  • Adheres to UnitedHealth Group policies and procedures relating to health, safety, and quality management

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience 
  • 5+ years of experience leading multiple concurrent projects while effectively prioritizing multiple tasks, priorities, projects, and deadline to resolve customer issues and meet delivery timeline
  • 2+ years of experience in successfully leading and delivering on cross-functional, complex project strategies and initiatives in fast paced, quality-focused environment or equivalent experience/education 
  • 2+ years of experience coordinating or managing deliverables of third-party vendors 
  • Experience leading and supporting a team of direct reports 
  • Proficient with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams 
  • Available to travel occasionally on business 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification 
  • Healthcare industry and/or UnitedHealth Group experience 
  • Experience managing financial requests and associated inputs (cost-benefits analysis, business case, etc…) 
  • Ability to solve complex problems and lead/facilitate meetings to achieve desired outcomes 
  • Excellent presentation, time management, organizational, prioritization, and communication skills
