Manager, CEC Innovation and Initiatives

Richmond, VA

Manager, CEC Innovation and Initiatives plays a critical role shaping and operationalizing the strategic agenda of the CEC organization. Responsibilities in this role include enabling the CEC organization to rally around a shared, bold vision; bringing clarity to large cross-functional efforts; elevating progress through executive level and organization-wide communications; and ensuring we are appropriately organized and resourced to deliver on our objectives. In doing so, the role will work closely with the leaders of the CEC organization.  

 

This work will fundamentally transform the future of CarMax. This position provides a strategic thinker, possessing strong analytical and project management skills, the opportunity to play a role in supporting a critical business area for CarMax’s continued growth. This position will be located in Richmond and will require up to 50% travel. 


What you will do – Essential Responsibilities 

Support CEC strategy: 

  • Break down and articulate complex problems to enable strong strategic decision making and enable teams to action against 
  • Identify and analyze opportunities and coordinate solutions to drive impact in the CEC organization 
  • Build and execute roadmaps to achieve strategic goals 
  • Work collaboratively to prioritize and gain buy in for strategies and solutions 
  • Track progress against strategic goals 

 

Coordinate Testing and Execution 

  • Develop testing strategy, including data requirements, timelines, and stakeholder management 
  • Manage unique tests, including presentation of findings to executive leadership 
  • Coordinate successful tests into sustained practices through execution teams 

 

Collaborate across teams and field leadership 

  • Manage governance models to enable stronger cross functional planning 
  • Support the change management process to create cultural awareness, desire, and tools to support change 
  • Maintain a communications strategy to inform executives, the broader CEC organization, and cross-functional stakeholders on progress towards strategic objectives and performance 


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Track record of strategic thinking and analytical decision making 
  • Take initiative and ‘make things happen’ with moderate supervision or guidance and with an analytical, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset 
  • Excellent project management skills: Can develop and execute plans and proactively make improvements to processes 
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence, simultaneously supporting multiple projects 
  • Clearly articulate vision, objectives, and progress through exceptional written, visual, and verbal communication  
  • Ability to motivate and influence across all levels of the organization 
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to flex between big picture thinking and sharp attention to detail 
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel 
  • 4+ years of business experience in management consulting, strategy, strategic program management 
  • Undergraduate degree in a business discipline or similar field with an excellent academic record; advanced degree preferred
