The role will support the global consumer and brand communications organization by coordinating major brand moments, special projects and campaigns, as well as leading proactive storytelling efforts grounded in trends and culture.


You will have a finger on the pulse, identifying relevant trends and cultural moments as well as analyzing data to tell larger stories about how the world is connecting with audio on Spotify. You’ll also bring a deep understanding of the consumer, entertainment and culture media space and understand how to make impact by demonstrating strong press relationships and developing creative storytelling moments.


As a Manager, Brand & Culture Consumer Communications, you are an agile, creative and strategic thinker, have impeccable writing and problem-solving skills and must be able to work collaboratively across multiple teams, organizations, and geographies.


You have a track record for supporting watershed company moments and campaigns with thoughtful strategy and organization, and are able to work collaboratively with Spotify’s marketing org, social team and other key company leaders to amplify these moments through comms activations and channels.


In this role you must be attuned to cultural trends at large and be able to strategically connect those trends with Spotify’s global storytelling and priorities, as well as amplify Spotify data and insights into upcoming campaigns and marketing efforts and owned channels.

This role will be a direct report to Spotify’s Global Head of Consumer Brand & Culture, PR & Communications. 


What you'll do:

  • Proactively identify and execute ground-up, PR-driven campaigns that increase brand awareness through earned media, owned channels and influencer
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with key press across the consumer, lifestyle and culture space
  • Serve as a trend and culture expert to drive cultural relevance for the brand and foster authentic brand love
  • Be immersed in emerging trends in order to develop creative and compelling ideas that help keep Spotify on the cutting edge of public conversation and inspire consumers
  • Work closely with internal data resources to deeply understand consumer behavior and leverage insights to create storylines that demonstrate how the world is connecting with audio on Spotify
  • Identify new ways to storytell in the digital space, whether that’s through influencers, social channels or emerging platforms
  • Drive innovation by continually pushing the boundaries of our creative programs into new and relevant areas
  • Lead comms planning and execution for owned brand moments, special projects and campaigns
  • Create messaging for Spotify’s key spokespeople and talent for key consumer announcements
  • Stay abreast of news in the entertainment, technology and podcasting space
  • Strategically evaluate communications opportunities, understanding risks and benefits to the brand
  • Support global communications and marketing initiatives with data and insights
  • Work with key stakeholders across the company to educate and guide our strategy and approach
  • Work closely with the Global Head of Consumer Brand & Culture, PR & Communications to build objectives, consistency and guardrails across the markets
  • Manage agency support by providing briefs, direction and ongoing guidance
  • Lead and attend weekly meetings 


Who you are:

  • 7+ years relevant communications experience in public relations, journalism or communications
  • Passionate about global culture and trends
  • Strong understanding of the consumer media landscape and relevant relationships is essential
  • Extensive experience with communications supporting a global company
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic communications and influencer campaigns
  • Motivated self-starter with hands-on attitude
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a hectic and extremely fast-moving industry and environment
  • Collaborative individual who enjoys partnering closely across teams and departments to create and distribute the most impactful communications possible
  • Strong strategic thinker and resourceful problem-solver
  • Ability to balance short- and long-term priorities

  • We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
  • Where in the world? This role is based in New York, NY, and we'll expect you to be based within commutable distance of our NYC office.
  • Working hours? We operate within the Eastern Standard time zone for collaboration.
