Manager, Benefits & Compensation

We’re looking for a dynamic leader to join our A-Team as our Manager, Benefits & Compensation/Total Rewards Manager. As a leader in your field, you have winning track record in designing and implementing benefit programs that retain and attract top talent. You know how to develop programs that are in line with our business objectives, talent strategy and innovates to move the function forward. You are as comfortable in building strategy as you are in rolling up your sleeves to execute it.

 

This role reports to the Director of Total Rewards & Employee Wellness.

 

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Benefits & Wellness 60%

  • Maintain expertise, continual assessment and research of market trends to recommend considerations for change to current programs by building business cases and assessing impact on budgets
  • Work in collaboration with various functional groups (HR, Communications, External Vendors, etc.) to communicate, promote and ensure awareness of our holistic Total Rewards offering for optimal value creation
  • Provide expertise in managing the benefits program with a specific focus around stabilizing and controlling benefits costs.
  • Analyze and deliver reporting and cost projections to support the recommendation of benefit plan changes, adding new benefits and ensuring program governance
  • Create a framework for developing programs and practices to ensure administrative excellence of benefits operations, including oversight of benefit programs administration and compliance
  • Lead the quarterly review for health and group insurance plans, annual open enrollment, which includes the evaluation of costs, annual budget submission process, benefits audit etc.
  • Design comprehensive wellness and purpose-driven strategy and be the change ambassador to bring it to life
  • Host learning sessions and create documents to educate employee base about benefits plans as part of onboarding and the ongoing employee lifecycle
  • Conduct external benchmarking and internal analysis of usage and trends to identify gaps and support with recommendations

 

Compensation & Equity Administration 40%

  • Partner cross-functionally to manage and administer base pay and incentive pay programs
  • Create compensation foundation elements like pay structures, merit guidelines, pay guidelines, plan documents and update them as needed
  • Prepare compensation recommendations for new positions and promotions supported by internal equity and pay guidelines and external competitive benchmarks
  • Manage all aspects of the market intelligence process, which includes participating in market research surveys, gathering data, validating it, conducting analysis and building business cases
  • Lead the annual compensation review cycle, analyze and present to functional leaders’ compensation themes and pay gaps for their respective teams
  • Manage the ongoing development and maintenance of the job levelling framework, and make recommendations to support the needs of the business
  • Review existing tools and enablers related to compensation and identify enhancements that can create efficiencies, update business rules due to process changes
  • Perform continuous cost and productivity analysis of total rewards programs and initiatives.
  • Support Aurora’s equity programs, including Stock Options, RSU, PSU and ESPP. Oversee the administration of the program by working closely with third party administrator.
  • Partner with finance, tax, legal, etc. on the regulatory and financial aspects of the compensation programs.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, insight, and understanding to the business on all compensation matters

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • A relevant degree/diploma in Human Resources Management or Business Administration; certified Benefits Professional and or Compensation (CEBS/CBP/CCP), considered an asset
  • 5- 7 years of progressive corporate Total Rewards experience with a minimum of 3 years' experience administering Group Benefits and Retirement plans
  • Passionate about elevating the employee experience, corporate Total Rewards, approaching the challenge from a user-centric design perspective, and bringing fresh ideas and creative thinking to the table;
  • A strong communicator, compelling storyteller and influencer with the ability to gain support and sponsorship from a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to use data to make informed recommendations and ask though provoking questions.
  • You are excited by building programs from the ground up with limitless creative thinking/innovation and bringing it to life
  • You are unafraid of ambiguity and able to pivot as needed and can juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • You are thorough and analytical, with the ability to build business cases, draw meaningful findings from large data and develop actions with impactful results by utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
