Manager, Americas Communications

Atlanta, GA

Interface is looking for an excellent communicator to join a fast-paced team as Manager, Americas Communications, reporting primarily to the head of Global Corporate Communications with a secondary reporting line to the VP of HR, Americas.


The Manager, Americas Communications will deliver a strategic communications program that is fully integrated into Interface’s Global and Regional strategy and supports the company’s key internal business initiatives in the Americas. This role includes direct management of a Communications Generalist.


This high energy, resourceful and creative individual will create concise and compelling content that grabs employees’ attention across internal channels, including our global internal social network, intranet, email, video, webcasts, town halls, and physical and digital signage. This person will collaborate with a wide network of partners across the Americas business to engage desk, non-desk (production and manufacturing), and mobile employees around our mission and our key strategic business objectives.


In addition, the Manager, Americas Communications, will also support targeted external communications efforts related to critical Americas regional objectives such as communicating important business updates to local media or customers, as needed.


The role requires this person to work in a fluid and fast-paced environment; it is best suited for a change agent who enjoys a challenge and thrives when creating new and innovative programs to propel the company. The person must have experience working directly with senior business leaders. The person serves as the communications advisor to the Americas Leadership Team.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop strategic communications plans, designed to support the Americas business and align with regional and global corporate communications and marketing priorities
  • Partner with the Americas Leadership Team; provide counsel and support all regional issues / change / crisis / business and employee communications within the region
  • Develop and implement programs that drive employee engagement focused on our purpose, values, sustainability mission, and commercial objectives
  • Own Americas internal editorial calendar and content development; develop written and/or video employee news programs that celebrate employee and customer voices; drive awareness of Interface’s business objectives; communicate quarterly regional financials
  • Manage a direct report, provide guidance and direction on activities, and support their professional development
  • Support and empower a successful network of communicators and communications partners, and enable them to promote key initiatives, customers wins, product innovations, social impact programs, and brand sponsorship across internal platforms
  • Research and identify opportunities to streamline and enhance the company’s communications through best practices and new tools
  • Be part of a global team of corporate communications professionals protecting and enhancing Interface’s reputation and sharing best practice
  • Collaborate with regional functional teams including Sales, Sustainability, HR, IT, Marketing, etc. to support their communications needs
  • Distribute content on all appropriate communication vehicles –– including executive communications, video, internal social media and collaboration tools, intranet, email, and live and virtual town halls
  • Lead projects, including monitoring quality and completion; ability to navigate internal team dynamics and drive decisions without positional authority
  • Work independently on specific goals and projects
  • Support and execute Global or Corporate level initiatives in the Americas region, such as annual culture surveys and related activations, performance management, Inclusion Networks (employee resource groups), etc.
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships to support activities
  • Proactively identify obstacles and recommend solutions
  • Encourage diverse thinking that challenges the status quo to raise standards and promote a culture of innovation; implement communications best practice


Educational requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Advertising, Social Sciences or related field is required.


Skills and experience:

A deep understanding of communications and employee engagement is required. Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills and a passion for trying new methods and vehicles to drive engagement. Change management related communications experience is a plus.

  • Proven experience writing engaging employee-oriented content across a range of medium, including internal social networks, intranets, email, digital signage, etc.; ability to transform ideas into compelling content
  • Demonstrated ability to be resourceful, flexible, and have an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Must be proactive and comfortable in a fast paced, loosely defined environment
  • Must be highly-organized and detail oriented to multi-task, prioritize deadlines and activities, and complete multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly write, develop presentation materials and deliver messages using video, written, and visual communications (e.g. PPT)
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization including consulting with senior level leaders on recommended messaging
  • Strong business acumen with demonstrated ability to understand and translate how business objectives impact the company's performance
  • Proven ability to forge collaborative relationships with multiple business stakeholders and external partners around the world to align activities to key strategic objectives
  • Ideally has experience working in the fields of design, sustainability and/or cause marketing/communications; if no formal professional exposure then the candidate must be passionate and interested in the topics and be able to credibly generate excitement/awareness
  • Must have excellent computer skills; ideally has graphic design and/or visual storytelling understanding/experience


Role Requirements:

  • Ability to travel on short notice; approximately 15% travel
  • Based in Atlanta, GA  
  • A minimum of 5 years of communications, marketing, or other related experience
