Local Media Development Intern

Philadelphia, PA

Local Media Development's mission is to enhance Comcast’s local reach, relationships, and impact through local investment advocacy reports, commemorative and community programming, and corporate administration communications. LMD’s broad portfolio of assets includes: State and Local Economic Impact Reporting; Comcast Center Campus programming; The Universal Sphere; Comcast Newsmakers’ national platform; and the Voices of the Civil Rights Movement platform — among the nation's most comprehensive collections of firsthand accounts from the 1960s civil rights movement. Comcast Local Media Development (LMD) Content & Partnerships produces original video content for the public that aligns to our company's core values, including diversity/equity/inclusion (DEI), entrepreneurship, bridging the digital divide, and sustainability. You'll be surrounded by a supportive team of video storytellers, social media strategists, documentary filmmakers, and journalists.


Our 10–12-week program as an intern at Comcast will help you cultivate meaningful relationships, develop professional skills, gain insight to the day-to-day operations of a top media and technology company, and receive mentorship opportunities to expand your professional network.


You will gain invaluable knowledge of our industry, be part of our diverse and welcoming culture and receive exposure to other areas of the business, all while working on real life business projects and functions.


Core Responsibilities

  • Supports the Executive Producer in producing video content for the show “Comcast Newsmakers,” driving results for all parts of the production process.
  • Researching and pitching topics for segments
  • Script writing
  • Fact-checking
  • Reviewing draft edits, both for content and technical issues
  • QC of platforms
  • Crafting smart headlines and captions for video content, following AP style for journalism, for multiple platforms\
  • Attend productions for Comcast Newsmakers and provide general support for the team
  • Regular, Consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs
  • Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program


Preferred Qualifications

  • Video editing (Premiere Pro, Avid, Final Cut, etc.)
  • Broadcast script writing
  • Researching
  • Attention to detail


Preferred Major(s)

  • Obtaining a Bachelors degree in Journalism preferred but not required


Compensation

  • Rising Sophomore = $21/hr
  • Rising Junior = $22/hr
  • Rising Senior = $23/hr

Base Pay: $23.00


Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a Commission under the terms of an applicable plan, while most non-sales positions are eligible for a Bonus.
