About the job

As a Legal Specialist for YouTube, you will be a driving force behind the success of the YouTube legal team, ready to create and improve processes, maintain records, assist in discussing and drafting basic legal agreements, conduct legal research, and coordinate communications and diligence across the team. You will closely support your team, and may find yourself working with multiple groups within the Legal Department, internal clients across YouTube and Google, and external parties.


As a Legal Specialist, YouTube, with appropriate attorney oversight, you will help draft a variety of basic commercial agreements, including content licensing and distribution agreements with content owners of all types, and help advise process improvements for a wide variety of YouTube initiatives and products. You will also assist with the creation and maintenance of internal legal team knowledge resources and operational processes for our commercial and regulatory work. You’ll support a range of legal functional areas within the YouTube organization. You will prioritize and manage numerous tasks concurrently, while also paying careful attention to detail.


Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, and help negotiate simple to moderate legal agreements (including licensing, marketing, content development, and other general intellectual property agreements).
  • Oversee key contractual templates, including managing the continuous improvement of standard form agreements.  
  • Work closely with other legal team members to assist with legal due diligence for product and feature launches, as well supporting regulatory and legislative analysis and compliance planning. 
  • Support legal team members to help advise business clients and global/regional legal teams on legal issues and risks, agreement structures, and company policies, and support the implementation of legal policies and processes, and advise on improvements to such processes.
  • Work with other Products and Agreements legal assistants on legal and process improvement projects.
