Legal Assistant

Seattle, WA

Work hard, have fun and make history with the Amazon WW Operations Legal team. We are currently looking for a Legal Assistant who has the uncanny ability to always know where they are needed, who can help improve processes, and has a vision for building great support systems for our clients. This role will help in reviewing, drafting, and finalizing contracts and helping solve problems directly with clients. There are many opportunities for special project work where you can expand on you skills and substantive knowledge.


You will need to possess the ability to work efficiently and independently; manage high volumes of tasks and projects with little guidance; react with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require a quick response or turnaround; take effective action without having to know the total picture; and think creatively and be proactive in solving problems that affect people within the group or other related groups. You should be client-service oriented, have great attention to detail while still meeting tight deadlines, and have the ability to easily switch gears.


A high level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information, as well as the ability to work well with people at all levels inside and outside the company is essential.


In summary, here's a list of some tasks you'll be doing in this role:

  • Coordinating contract approvals, signatures and filings
  • Analyze, draft and negotiate standard form contracts.
  • Creating and maintaining internal legal and business facing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other resources
  • Effectively using and managing all software, systems, and tools used by the Legal Department and by our specific legal team; teaching team members and business users how to effectively use tools and providing new ideas and requirements for building new tools
  • Identifying and/or executing on legal and business-facing process improvements, including simplification measures to eliminate repetitive, low spend or low risk work
  • Providing general administrative support including contract searches and organization, helping with presentations and trainings, and some calendaring.
  • Acting as a primary resource or “go to” for the team and its clients


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS degree
  • 2+ years of experience in an administrative capacity
  • Experience working proactively and independently and meeting deadlines and deliver on projects and tasks
  • Experience working in client/customer-service oriented professional role


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong desire and aptitude for learning new concepts
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations
  • Technology company or other legal experience is a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
