Learning and Development Manager

San Francisco, CA

At Rothy’s, we know there’s a better way to do business, and it starts by putting the planet and its people first. More than 125 million single-use plastic bottles and 400,000 pounds of ocean-bound marine plastic have been transformed into our signature thread, creating wardrobe staples that look just as good as they feel.

Striving for zero waste, we combine 3D knitting technology and handcrafted assembly to create machine washable styles that don’t compromise on comfort. From classic shoes to carry-everywhere bags, we create essentials for wherever you go.

Working to close Rothy’s loop by 2023, building a sustainable future is at the heart of everything we do. We pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive environment at our HQ, retail stores and wholly-owned factory, and are growing our community every day.

About the Team:

Together, the members of our People team make up the most well-versed employee directory you can imagine. From the moment a candidate is interested in working with us until the day they celebrate their first anniversary—and well beyond—this team is working behind the scenes to ensure everything is sailing smoothly. From insurance questions to organizing company events, the People team are true Rothy’s champions.

Creating a culture of continual growth through learning and development is core to our values at Rothy’s. We're looking for our first Learning and Development Manager to help design our strategy and build a structured program around learning.

  • Identify the need for and make the case for investments in resources or vendor partnerships
  • Create leadership and manager development programs focused on building skills to support growth and scaling

  • Partner with members of the People Operations team to improve and evolve employee onboarding and new hire orientation
  • Define and measure critical metrics and leverage qualitative feedback to optimize your approach and report out on the impact and efficacy of learning initiatives to support additional investments
  • Champion and embody the Rothy’s culture, mission, and values and ensure that all curriculum reinforces and reflects Rothy’s values

You are:

  • Motivated by building from the ground up
  • Responsible and accountable with strong attention to detail and excellent organization skills
  • An exceptional communicator in both written and verbal interactions; clear, concise, and courageous in giving tough but supportive feedback when needed
  • Data-driven, analytical decision maker and pragmatic problem solver who can find root causes of issues and gain leadership support to address them while driving solutions

You have:

  • 5+ years of experience in Instructional Design and facilitation in high growth, dynamic environments
  • Proven experience in and knowledge of adult learning principles
  • Expert level training and facilitation skills and experience with eLearning tools (in-person and virtual)
  • Track record of operating independently, demonstrating creativity, and delivering results at a large scale
  • Experience operating effectively in a fast-paced environment
