Lead, Quality Control

Charlottetown, PE

Based out of Charlottetown, PEI, we are currently looking for a Quality Control Lead to join our Quality Control team. Reporting to the Director of Quality, the ideal candidate aspires to work in the growing cannabis field with an award-winning team! The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the Quality Control laboratories analytical testing activities for incoming materials, components and finished products to ensure they meet the required quality specifications, and will coordinate shift-transfer management. 


 The hourly wage for this role is $25/hr plus benefits.


What can you expect to do

  • Ensure all Good Production Practices (GPP) are strictly adhered to during QC testing procedures. 
  • Oversee and coordinate daily prioritization of QC analytical testing. Coordinate the receipt and completion of testing for contaminants and determination of THC/CBD content for release of product. 
  • Coordinate interdepartmental release of final products and ensure certificates of analysis are accurate and embody QC/QA standards for regulated products. 
  • Review and approve change controls (ensuring all levels of change are evaluated and documented) as they pertain to QC analytical testing. 
  • Train and support QC Chemists in all areas of methods, policies and procedure, as well as the identification and correction of potential work problems and health and safety issues.  
  • Review of QC data acquisition as it pertains to batch record documentation, labelling, sample, handling, generation of certificates of analysis and release of finished products tests to verify conformance to quality systems. 
  • Prepare technical reports and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance and consistency with company policies. 
  • Maintain data, track trends to identify changes in analytical testing and/or methods. 
  • Analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system; develop, recommend, and monitor corrective and preventative actions. 
  • Investigate non-conformance or out of specification results as they pertain to QC Analytical testing. 
  • Support cross-functional teams if required to aid in resolution of product quality issues. 
  • As it pertains to QC analytical testing: participate in annual product quality review, compile data and prepare reports, support oversight of any product retrievals or recalls, support the compliant handling system including investigating complaints, and adverse reaction reports for cannabis products. 


What we are looking for

  • 5 years’ experience in Quality Assurance, including root-cause investigation and participation in quits  
  • Practical QC lab experience 
  • Experience in creation and closure of deviations, corrective and preventative actions. 
  • Post-secondary education in Quality Assurance, Science, or Engineering. 
  • Previous experience in a GMP environment and understanding of the Cannabis Act would be an asset 
  • ASQ certification would be considered an asset. 
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered
