Lead, Global Corporate Communications

The Under Armour team is looking for a Newsroom Lead, Global Corporate Communications who brings an editorial mindset, passion and creativity, and strong writing skills to guide the brand’s owned storytelling efforts. Working in partnership with the Master Storyteller and the Senior Directors for Global Brand Communications and Corporate Communications, this role will be responsible for crafting the UA purpose-led narrative, both internally and externally. Created to help bridge our internal and external storytelling efforts, this role will work with our Master Storyteller to ensure our narrative is authentic, rooted in purpose, and driven from UA’s values. They’ll work diligently and intentionally to bring our story to life on two of UA’s most important channels: the UA Newsroom, and among its’ Executive Leaders. To find success, this person must be curious and creative, uncovering, and telling the countless stories of UA. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as owner and visionary for the UA Newsroom, in partnership with the Master Storyteller and Newsroom Editor.
  • Build out and drive the editorial calendar with stories covering key topics like our athletes, new products, innovation, design, sustainability, and global community impact, and more.
  • Write, develop and edit narratives.
  • Coordinate and recommend associated assets (i.e. photos, video) for each story; oversee creation as needed.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to create content that resonates with key audiences and media and can be amplified via social.
  • Present and socialize the editorial calendar to partners and leadership, on an ongoing basis.
  • Oversee analysis and develop metrics to assess impact of stories; make recommendations and adjustments on narrative, channels and audiences as appropriate.
  • Work with UA’s web developer and CMS Drupal; serve as an editor on back-end.
  • Set workback schedules, own timelines and approvals, and coordinate publishing.
  • Constantly find and prioritize the key storytelling opportunities for the brand.


Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Excellent writing skills and editorial planning combined with speed, flexibility and attention to detail.
  • Message development that leverages multiple platforms including digital, video, mobile and social media.
  • Passion for sports, brands, culture and people.
  • Ability to think outside of the box.
  • Excels at creating operational guidelines and owning processes for teams to follow.


Education And / Or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications or related discipline
  • 4-6 years of professional Communications experience
  • 2 additional years of experience required in lieu of a degree


Other Requirements

  • Potential for travel pending ongoing progress of the COVID-19 pandemic
