L3Harris is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Lead to support sites within its Maritime Sector. The EHS Lead will support the Sector’s performance toward meeting their injury rate and environmental sustainability goals, as well as continuous improvement and validation of their EHS compliance requirements. The role will report to the sector’s EHS Senior Manager and support the EHS team members at the sector’s 40+ locations. 


This individual will support the deployment and verification of policy, programs, and tools to support the organization’s goal of building a best-in-class EHS management system striving for Zero Injuries, Zero Risk, and Zero Impact. The role will also serve as a subject matter expert in environmental and occupational safety and health matters for the business.


The EHS Lead must serve as a change agent and project manager, demonstrating the ability to guide EHS professionals in implementing and sustaining company EHS policies and management systems, and remain available for site support requests.


Essential Functions: 

  • Supports all aspects of the Sector’s EHS performance, including injury reduction and avoidance, environmental sustainability initiatives, and meeting EHS regulatory and company requirements.
  • Ensures sites meet deadlines and execute company EHS programs effectively.
  • Focuses on continuous improvement and management of change of EHS programs in processes, systems, and products.
  • Regularly briefs the EHS organization on programs, trends, and action plans. 
  • Remains current with all applicable regulations and company policies and advises leadership in EHS-related programmatic change recommendations or requirements. 
  • Uses and performs data analysis within Gensuite (a EHS common system platform) to drive accurate reporting and continual improvement, including incident trending, broad reaching root cause/corrective actions, short and long-term action plans, horizontal deployment and common achievement of EHS initiatives.
  • Supports the standardization of EHS processes.
  • Provides guidance, coaching, and training to employees throughout the Sector within area of expertise, such as when piloting and implementing new requirements, completing hazard and risk assessments, or completing incident investigations.
  • Candidate must be willing to travel 25-50% to support as needed. 
  • Performs related duties or special projects as directed.


Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 9 years of prior related experience, or a graduate degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Strong technical understanding of environmental and occupational health and safety regulations and practices.
  • Practical experience developing, training, and implementing EHS programs and trainings.
  • Ability to research technical information as required.
  • Ability to manage time and projects across multiple sites or programs. 
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation).
  • Competent computer skills related to Microsoft office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, along with ability to use data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI to analyze data for use in developing forward plans.
  • United States citizen.


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • EHS-related professional accreditations: Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Professional Engineer, etc.
  • Involvement in high performance programs: VPP, ISO 45001, 14001
  • Strong root cause analysis skills
  • Experience using and leveraging EHS common systems, such as Gensuite
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analysis skills
  • Exhibits sound judgment and professionalism in all situations
  • Demonstrated ability to work under general, consultative direction and manage programs independently
