This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Lead Communications Engineer for our New York, NY office. The following locations will also be considered: Newark, NJ; and Valhalla, NY.  Be involved in projects with our Transit and Rail Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. 


Your Impact

  • Support and represent as owner rep for MTA C&D communications and wireless radio projects.  
  • Reviews regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project activities.
  • Inspects construction site to monitor progress and assesses conformance to engineering plans, specifications and construction standards.
  • Assist to resolve design issues and questions from contractor.
  • Communicate and coordinate with contractor and the project team.
  • Must be able to perform a detailed comparison of the design drawings against the contract requirements.
  • Analyzes project task needs, changes and enhancements and makes recommendations.
  • Prepares and gives briefings and presentations, advise senior management.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.


Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related degree.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of transportation engineering experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with wireless communications (radio), land mobile or cellular.
  • Familiarity with NY area transportation agencies such as Amtrak, LIRR, MetroNorth, NJT, NYCT, PANYNJ and their technical approach. 


Expected Salary: $79,100 - $110,000
