Lead Budtender

Lead Budtenders are responsible for assessing the needs of our patients and educating/guiding them in selecting the appropriate cannabis products to meet their needs. They embody the "customer first" approach, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service.


A successful Lead Budtender will be able to elevate company standards, achieve sales goals, provide excellent product suggestions and guidance, and exceed the patient's expectations. Budtenders are expected to inspire customer confidence in Terrabis and assist in creating long-term loyalty to our brand.


The Lead Budtender will be responsible for opening and closing duties within the dispensary as a Shift Leader, communicating product and policy updates to Budtenders, and assisting Managers by supporting an atmosphere that fosters learning and continued education.


They must maintain accurate records of all customer identification and registration documents, manage customer traffic flow, and respond to customer and patient inquiries.


The Lead Budtender will also record, arrange, package, and sell customer orders. The ideal candidate must maintain a professional appearance, organized work environment, and facility appearance.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains strict inventory controls to ensure full, comprehensive regulatory compliance across all dispensary operations.
  • Ensure POS stations are clean, stocked, and ready to go at store opening.
  • Ensure Budtender opening and closing checklists are completed in a timely manner.
  • Always maintain proper cash handling procedures.
  • Ensure all customers are greeted as they arrive and wished farewell at their departure.
  • Ensure all customers always receive excellent customer service, in every interaction.
  • Inform management and supervisors of any low-stock product or inventory issues.
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of cannabis products, the cannabis industry, and any relevant cannabis-related subject matter.
  • Be knowledgeable of all sales and promotions, including in-store weekly/daily deals.
  • Participate in staff events, outings, and promotional events.
  • Read industry publications to keep up to date on current/future trends in the industry.
  • Provide in-store new hire training and mentorship to incoming Budtenders with direction from Manager.
  • Ensure your uniform is clean and that you are prepared for your scheduled shift.
  • Perform other duties or projects, as assigned by managers. 


QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of customer service experience; preference for candidates with specialty, customer-facing retail experience or cannabis-related experience in a customer setting.
  • Consistent demonstration of excellent customer service skills.
  • Previous experience with POS systems.
  • Previous training/leadership experience a plus.
  • Desire to continuously learn (more) about cannabis, cannabinoids and the endocannabinoid system, and cannabis therapies - previous knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to listen well and effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with various audiences.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment and software including word processing, database management, spreadsheet applications and email.
  • Understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the industry, personnel law, safety regulations, local municipal codes and organizational rules, regulations, directives, and standard operating procedures.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the Cannabis industry.


WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 30 pounds (100 pounds with assistance), may include sitting or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or down.
