What You'll Do: 

The OEM Lab Engineer will engage with OEM customers, partners, sales, and Lenovo product teams to evaluate, test, and drive technical requirements for complex OEM solution offerings. While Lenovo’s OEM business leverages its existing portfolio of products, there are many opportunities to customize offerings for unique OEM solutions, and the role of the Solution Architect will help OEM customers and sales teams evaluate and understand what is possible and how best to execute on technical solution requirements. 


The Lab Engineer will also develop technical relationships with key alliance partners, suppliers, and integrators in the ecosystem to ensure Lenovo is in the best technical posture to meet the needs of the market. The Lab Engineer will have responsibility for requirements input to Lenovo product development teams and will engage in specific testing and certifications for the OEM business.


This OEM Lab Engineer position is a technical pre-sales/relationship role supporting Lenovo's OEM sales teams. You will be a technical solutions adviser as customers look to Lenovo to develop solutions to address their business needs. You will be integral to the sales teams for opportunity identification, solution planning/design, and all technical elements of the sales opportunity. You are Lenovo's technical arbiter with the customer, external partners, and with our internal teams. 


Position Requirements: 

1.   Bachelor of Science degree or greater in an engineering discipline 

2.   5 - 7 years industry experience in an Engineering lab environment 

3.   Strong experience in PC, Smart devices and Operating Systems 

4.   Experience working with IoT sensors, gateways and enclosures 

5.   Experience working on Linux operating systems is highly desired 

6.   Experience with Device Management & Content Management Solutions programs highly desired 

7.   Experience using thermal chambers desired 

8.   Conduct performance tests / benchmarking on Customer Solutions 

9.   Perform compatibility and power loss testing for customer proprietary hardware 

10.   Provide technical assistance in compliance and certification of hardware for specific Industry 

11.   Participate in initial customer issue debugging and data collection 

12.   Develop Proof of Concepts (POC) based on customer requirements for validation which may include Hardware, Software and 3rd Party offerings 

13.   Setup demo’s for customer to review POC’s and benchmark results 

14.   Assist with test plans and stay engaged with internal & external teams during solution development 

15.   Set and manage expectations around solutions, internally and externally 

16.   Evaluate customer solution for optimization and best alignment to Lenovo products/services 

17.   Understand emerging technologies and products and Lenovo's strategies to address them

18.   Collaborate with OEM Solution Architects, Customers, Sales team and extended Lenovo teams 

19.   Excellent, professional verbal and written communication skills 

20.   Ability to travel 5%
