Lab Associate

New Castle, PA

The purpose of the Laboratory Associate is to assist the Lab Supervisor and Technicians with maintenance of general lab functions, production, and overall organization. The position will handle ancillary tasks and general housekeeping of the laboratory.


This will be a full-time weekend shift Thursday-Sunday

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily lab tasks with Laboratory Supervisor
  • Prepare plant material for extraction (Grinding plant material and packing material socks) and accurately documenting related data
  • Winterization, filtration, and rotary evaporation of ethanol solutions
  • Assist Lab Technicians during ethanol extraction
  • Clean and sanitize laboratory areas and equipment
  • Dispose of green waste following SOPs
  • Sampling plant material
  • Other responsibilities as directed by the Laboratory Supervisor
  • Record required data in lab notebooks, laboratory logs and computer databases


Physical Requirements of the Job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, lifting, walking, standing, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 75 pounds (up to 125 pounds with assistance). May include walking or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or crouching. Ability to tolerate moderate to loud exposure to noise level. Exposure to long periods of bright lights and periods of prolonged use of office equipment including computers and phones.

 

About You:

General

  • Regulations require that incumbent be at least 21 years of age and able to obtain and maintain medical marijuana work credentials.


Education/Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Related industry experience is preferred, especially in a licensed facility


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to use standard office equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Basic math skills
  • Understand and adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Professional demeanor, strong work ethic, and sound judgment
  • Highly detail oriented and organized
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
