Reporting to: Social and Video Lead, USA
Are you immersed in the world of social media? Do you carry around a mental briefcase of memes and trending sounds? Love to explore your city and TikTok? We’re looking for a sharp, witty, proactive and well-rounded Junior Social Media Editor to create and share content on our growing social channels.
You’ll be equally as comfortable editing engaging Instagram Stories or crafting the perfect Facebook post. This role will report to the USA’s Social and Video Lead with an eye for growing our reach, engagement and following on both local channels and nationally.
Responsibilities
- Schedule social media output across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok for core cities across the USA and Canada as well as national channels
- Champion and adhere to Time Out’s social media and tone of voice guidelines
- Moderate comments and feedback on social channels in an intelligent and chatty manner—we’re all humans here!
- Analyze traffic and engagement to identify trends and opportunities using Dash Hudson and other analytics tools
- Keep up with what’s trending in NYC, Chicago, LA and other major US cities and across the internet to report at daily meetings
- Work closely with the editorial team to repurpose content for Instagram carousels, stories and TikTok
- Explore new platforms for growing our social audience like WhatsApp, Pinterest and more
- Shoot shareable images and video at key NYC events and happenings
- Produce and edit short-form video for our social outlets, as and when required, using a smartphone
- Source UGC across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and TikTok
- Embrace Time Out’s digital-first, mobile-first philosophy: strong background in digital production is essential
Qualifications:
- A demonstrable passion for and excellent knowledge of social media
- Writes highly engaging copy in line with editorial standards
- A creative view of social media and flare for originality and innovation
- Ability to identify relevant breaking news stories across social
- Maintains a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail
- Desirable: working knowledge of Echobox, Dash Hudson, Canva or similar scheduling tools
