IT Manager

San Francisco, CA +1

Strava is the leading social platform for athletes and the largest sports community in the world, with US offices located in San Francisco and Denver and over 100 million athletes in 195 countries. If you sweat you’re an athlete, and Strava’s mobile apps and website connect millions of active people every day.

Strava is seeking an IT Manager to take high-level ownership of all aspects of our IT program, including conference room set-up, network infrastructure, data security and compliance, SaaS management, IT on-boarding, helpdesk, and overall employee experience as it relates to workplace technology. The culture of the IT team has been built to be one of compassionate support, attention to detail, and flexibility. You will manage a small and mighty team with opportunities to expand this as business needs arise.

We are passionate about supporting each of our teammates by building equitable and inclusive policies, programs, and practices. Despite challenges in the world around us, we are continuing to grow camaraderie and positivity within our culture, and we are unified in our commitment to becoming an antiracist company. It is important that our IT Manager shares similar passions and is committed to helping incorporate antiracist strategies and policies into Strava's culture and processes.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will:

  • Oversee all aspects of IT at Strava
  • Help guide IT strategy, architecture, and operational priorities across multiple global offices with a remote-first workforce
  • Own onboarding and off-boarding process as it relates to IT, and collaborate with the people operations team to ensure we welcome our new teammates in the best way possible.
  • Create annual budgets and manage team spending accordingly
  • Supervise the maintenance and operation of our 30+ Zoom conference rooms globally
  • Provide technical guidance on policies and standards for SSO, MDM and other company-wide IT services
  • Coordinate and collaborate with legal, privacy and compliance teams to evaluate new and existing services for security and duplicate functionality
  • Work alongside our Engineering team to ensure secure on-boarding/off-boarding of partners and vendors to Strava’s products and services via API or otherwise

You will be successful here by:

  • Building and supporting an IT team that delivers excellent support and service to our teammates in a way that is true to Strava’s ABCs
  • Building relationships with our teams to understand workflows and pain points, and to offer solutions with new or existing tools
  • Mentoring, leading, and coaching existing and new team members to realize their greatest potential
  • Dreaming up new ways to make things exciting for our employee community

We’re excited about you because:

  • Experience as an IT Manager of a company with 500 employees or more, and ideally at a company that is globally distributed and/or with remote workforce experience.
  • A people manager who understands the importance of development in an effort to best support the team.
  • Can display strong leadership skills to help the team prioritize tasks and focus on multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Savvy with industry-standard network & device security and compliance practices
  • Hands-on experience with engineering operations or enterprise operations
  • On-site experience and familiarity with conference room A/V systems and technologies
  • Experience rolling out company-wide IT infrastructure services such as Apple-focused MDM and SSO
  • Collaborative and egoless. You’ll be part of a kind and generous team that will be completely committed to your success, and we expect the same in return.
  • Ability to be flexible and respond to changing needs and situations
  • Driven by a desire to help others
  • Intellectually curious and globally minded
  • Hard-working and autonomous. You’ll be creating meaningful work with little supervision.

Strava is Swedish for “strive,” which epitomizes who we are and what we do. We’re a passionate and committed team, unified by our mission to connect athletes to what motivates them and help them find their personal best. With billions of activity uploads from all over the world, we have a humbling and adventurous vision: to be the record of the world’s athletic activities and the technology that makes every effort count.

Strava builds software that makes the best part of our athletes’ days even better. Just as we’re deeply committed to unlocking their potential, we’re dedicated to providing a world-class, inclusive workplace where our employees can grow and thrive, too. We’re backed by Sequoia Capital, Madrone Partners and Jackson Square Ventures, and we’re expanding in order to exceed the needs of our growing community of global athletes. Our culture reflects our community. We are continuously striving to hire and engage diverse teammates from all backgrounds, experiences and perspectives because we know we are a stronger team together.

In light of the global pandemic, Strava is currently working in a fully remote capacity. As always, we remain committed to fully supporting our employees, especially their mental health and wellbeing, through these challenging times. Despite challenges in the world around us, we are continuing to grow camaraderie and positivity within our culture, and we are unified in our commitment to becoming an antiracist company. We are differentiated by our truly people-first approach, our compassionate leadership, and our belief that we can bring joy and inspiration to athletes’ lives — now more than ever. All to say, it’s a great time to join Strava!
