The Director of PMO and Portfolio Management reporting to the Global Head of IT strategy, PMO and Governance will be responsible for leading, managing and governing the Project Management Office (PMO) and overseeing the portfolio of projects within Brinks.


This role ensures that all projects align with the company’s strategic objectives, are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. The Director will develop and implement standardized project management practices, provide leadership and support to project managers, project analysts and ensure effective resource allocation across projects.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Delivery Excellence:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive PMO Practices, standards, book of work including standardized methodologies, tools, and templates agonistic of delivery approaches
  • Establish governance and control mechanisms to ensure consistent project execution and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for project management and portfolio performance
  • Lead and manage the PMO team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.


2. Portfolio Management:

  • Oversee the portfolio of projects across global IT, ensuring they are prioritized and aligned with Brinks’ strategic goals.
  • Monitor project performance, providing regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Conduct portfolio reviews to assess project progress, risks, and resource utilization, and make recommendations for improvement.


3. Project Management Excellence:

  • Ensure that project managers adhere to standardized project management practices and methodologies.
  • Provide mentorship and support to project managers, helping them to navigate challenges and deliver successful projects.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging lessons learned and best practices shared.
  • Training and development to drive adoption and standardization


4. Resource Allocation and Optimization:

  • Manage the allocation of resources across projects, ensuring optimal utilization and efficiency.
  • Identify resource constraints and work with other departments to resolve them.
  • Develop and maintain resource planning and forecasting tools.


Stakeholder Communication and Reporting:

  • Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, providing regular status updates and addressing any issues or concerns.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level reports and presentations on project and portfolio performance.


6. Risk and Issue Management:

  • Identify, assess, and manage risks and issues across the project portfolio.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
  • Ensure that all projects adhere to Brinks’ risk management and compliance standards.


Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing a PMO or similar function.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale, complex projects and portfolios.
  • Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional), PgMP (Program Management Professional), Scaled Agile, or equivalent certification preferred.


Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira).
