Internal Communications Manager

Remote Petaluma, CA

The Internal Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing internal communications strategies that engage, inspire and connect employees with Amy’s Purpose, Values and Vision, as well as our People, Planet and Performance strategies. The individual will play a key role in driving employees’ understanding and awareness around company activities and key initiatives.

 

A natural communicator, our ideal candidate will be passionate about storytelling and finding new and creative ways to reach our employees with important updates, as well as fun and engaging news about what’s happening around Amy’s. The individual will have strong written skills, as well as the ability to turn complex details into easy to understand messaging for our employees. A true people person, our ideal candidate will excel at working collaboratively with various people and functions, bringing structure and organization to the way that we communicate throughout the company.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Inform, connect and engage employees through proactive internal communications

  • Work with the Company Affairs team and other internal stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive internal communications strategy to inform, connect and engage our employees around our Purpose, Values and Vision, as well as our People, Planet and Performance strategies
  • Create innovative ways to effectively communicate information within the company and motivate employees, including through internal communications campaigns
  • Write and develop messaging around various topics, including company strategy, priorities, and announcements.
  • Partner with HR to further develop our onboarding materials to ensure new employees are welcomed into Amy’s culture and understand our Purpose, Values, Vision and ways of working
  • Produce ongoing employee communications for various channels, including development of quarterly company update and day to day content for intranet
  • Lead the development and strategy around new and existing communication channels.
  • Manage further intranet development in partnership with IT
  • Draft messages, talking points and presentations on behalf of senior leadership team for internal communications
  • Develop communications measurement materials to gauge effectiveness and interest level of internal audiences.

 

Facilitate effective functional and change management communications

  • Develop and execute proactive and strategic internal communication plans in partnership with functions across the company
  • Support the development of internal communications channel and process strategy for each of our Kitchens
  • Develop proactive and reactive messaging that supports key initiatives and program rollouts
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to implement consistent communications across company
  • Participate in crisis communication activities
  • Ensure company-wide compliance with Amy’s branding guidelines in all internal communications materials.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) preferably in communications or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 10-12 years of experience in a similar role required (food or natural products industry a plus)
  • Experience in turning complex information into relevant, engaging, timely and valuable content.
  • Experience providing communications guidance to leadership and developing internal communications strategies
  • Experience with event management
  • Experience in writing on deadline for a variety of different audiences, editorial work including the planning, development and distribution of communications materials in multiple formats
  • Experience in developing and executing proactive communication plans and managing cross-functional projects
