Internal Auditor

Moncton, NB

We are currently seeking candidates for the position of Internal Auditor.


Reporting to the Manager of Internal Audit, the Internal Auditor will be responsible for performing both advisory projects and audits, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of processes and controls within Finance, Technology and other significant business units with respect to the ICFR programs in accordance with National Instrument 52-109 (“NI 52-109) and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (“SOX”).

Key Responsibilites:

  • Perform financial, operational or compliance audits using a risk-based methodology, including the incorporation of data & analytic procedures where relevant;
  • Contribute to the Internal Controls over Financial Reporting annual risk assessment, scoping and planning exercise;
  • Executing internal audit reviews, including interviewing business process owners and developing process documentation (i.e. flow chart, narrative, and risk and control matrix) and audit procedures designed to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the programs and controls established to mitigate risks;
  • Assist in identifying significant deficiencies and material weaknesses;
  • Perform testing on design and operating effectiveness of controls to support SOX Section 404 and NI 52-109 assessments of compliance;
  • Assist with the development of appropriate remediation plans;
  • Assist in preparing regular reporting to management on status updates of control results and recommendation action plans. This could include contributing to other reporting initiatives such as Audit Committee reporting, risk assessments, quarterly and annual certifications etc.;
  • Building relationships with key stakeholders, assisting with the identification of relevant business needs and monitor the progress and adequacy of management’s actions;
  • Assist with monitoring changes in business processes, information systems, management and operations, and coordinate with functional staff to ensure risk assessments are up to date and appropriately reflected in scope of work;
  • Adding value to our stakeholders in managing and mitigating risks, provide recommendations and brainstorm solutions where applicable;
  • Other duties as required.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Commerce majoring in Accounting or Finance, or other relevant degree;
  • Professional Accounting designation, or in progress of completing;
  • Willingness to pursue CIA, CISA or other applicable designations or certifications considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of general financial reporting processes;
  • Strong knowledge of internal control concepts, principles and techniques;
  • Experience in working with COSO framework is considered an asset;
  • Experience working with publicly traded companies is considered an asset;
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of IFRS is considered an asset.
