Intern - Business Planning

The Corporate Business Planning team leads the global financial planning process at Newmont, including budgeting, forecasting and strategic scenario modeling in order to guide executive decision-making, in close collaboration with global stakeholders across all areas of our business.


Your role will consist of

As an intern, you will be responsible for implementing specific Communications projects for the Business Planning team, as well as supporting the day-to-day activities of your department. The exact projects will be established according to your availability, interest, skills, and experience, in addition to the specific business needs.


Possible projects include:

  • Support the development of workshop content and facilitation of internal workshops
  • Support the development of presentations, memos and key messages to communicate strategic Business Planning priorities to corporate and global audiences
  • Content development and management for Business Planning team’s intranet sites (e.g. Prospector, Discovery), social media platforms (e.g. Yammer)
  • Support change management and continuous improvement initiatives

 

The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work; other work may also be assigned.


Your training, skills, and experience checklist

  • Graduate students preferred, graduating in 2021 or 2022 – targeting Master’s in Communications, who have a demonstrated interest in Finance. We will consider similar disciplines.
  • Strong organization, project and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfort engaging with senior leaders and global teams
  • Strong writing, presentation and facilitation skills; stakeholder management experience preferred
  • At least a 3.0 GPA or equivalent
  • Valid work authorization to work in the United States for this position.

Working conditions and location

The paid Intern position begins in May 2021 and concludes in August 2021, with an option to extend the internship through the end of 2021. The exact dates are flexible depending on each student’s availability and our business need. Our internships are full-time paid positions (40 hours/week).

 

This internship is based at our corporate headquarters in Denver, CO

The hourly rate offered for this overtime-eligible role is $20 (Freshman) - $36 (PhD). The hourly rate is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The hourly rate offer will not be based on a candidate’s wage rate history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about wage rate history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont. This role is not eligible for benefits except for as applicable by law.
