Instructional Designer, Manufacturing Training

Austin, TX

The Instructional Designer, Manufacturing Training will develop engaging material in a variety of media to support Production Associate new hire training at GigaTexas. This is a unique opportunity to help build a world-class manufacturing training program from the ground up. You will also work with Training Coordinators to develop just-in-time change management training for existing production personnel, including lineside leadership. A wide degree of creativity and self-motivation is expected.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop engaging content for blended and asynchronous training, with input from leadership, Training Coordinators, and subject matter experts
  • Develop and maintain master scripts of presentation material, including production task references and governing documentation
  • Film, edit, and prepare training videos, as appropriate
  • Design and develop materials to support hands-on training activities
  • Design and develop targeted assessments for trainees, with input from leadership, Training Coordinators, and subject matter experts
  • Revise and edit/prepare all training material, based on course feedback and input from leadership, Training Coordinators, and subject matter experts


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work or educational experience with technical and/or engineering concepts
  • Open collaborative style; ability to work both in a team environment and autonomously with minimal supervision or direction
  • Ability to be unfazed by ambiguity and comfortable in environments with shifting priorities
  • Must be able to understand complex information and communicate the information to people with diverse professional backgrounds.
  • High proficiency and expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, in particular PowerPoint and SharePoint are required 
  • Preferred experience using Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, and Snagit
  • Preferred experience with learning and content management systems and platforms 
  • Understanding of adult learning theory and application
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills with ability to successfully deliver and communicate complex technical training
  • Proven time management skills with the ability to work on several projects simultaneously
