Industry and Regulatory Compliance Analyst

Your Role and Responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to support IBM’s global regulatory compliance programs in the areas of privacy, cybersecurity, AI ethics, and data governance. You will work on impactful and time-sensitive matters in a fast-paced, quickly evolving regulatory environment. You will interact with multiple teams across the organization to perform your role including legal, policy, operational, and technical teams. Responsibilities

  • You will analyze new global regulations and standards in the areas of privacy, cybersecurity, AI ethics, and data governance
  • You will identify any gaps between new regulations and IBM’s existing contracts, policies, standards, and procedures
  • You will communicate identified gaps to a diverse range of corporate remediation partners across multiple teams
  • You will support IBM Business Units by publishing compliance instructions, hosting regular calls, and answering ad hoc questions
  • You will contribute to the development of new regulatory compliance tools and mechanisms to improve the team’s efficiency and effectiveness


This is a remote role with minimal travel. Preference will be given to candidates located within a commutable distance to Boston, MA, Austin, TX, and the New York Metro area who can work in an office 1-2 days per week.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Undergraduate degree in a business or technical discipline combined with several years of experience performing regulatory compliance analysis; or a J.D. or foreign equivalent law degree.
  • Excellent attention to detail & analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working across multiple teams in complex environments
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to take initiative to complete complex projects within short deadlines
  • Ability to think creatively to solve complex issues in innovative ways
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Prior experience in privacy, cybersecurity, AI, or data governance law or policy


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Prior experience in regulatory compliance, particularly involving GDPR or other major regulations
  • Industry recognized certification, such as IAPP CIPP-US/EU
