In-House Legal Counsel

We are looking for an In-House Legal Counsel based in Vancouver, BC, to provide expert legal advice for the Business Leaders to guide them through compliance and mitigate risks. You will partner with our all business areas, specifically Finance, Buying and Brand teams across the Canadian and US businesses regularly to support sales activations and reviewing contracts. 


Your core RESPONSIBILITIES will include:

  • Commercial matters
  • Prepare, draft, and review contract negotiations for all business areas.
  • Ensure legally robust and compliant with the latest legislation.
  • Drive collaboration with various stakeholders locally and globally, ensuring that legal matters are effectively and efficiently managed.
  • You will maintain the electronic management of all agreements, keeping the Finance team updated.
  • Corporate matters 
  • Provide guidance and support on corporate organizational legal matters.
  • Prepare, draft and review corporate legal documentation such as bank resolutions, corporate reorganizations, change of officers/directors and other tasks. 
  • Maintain the North America Directors and Officers Listing is up to date and required filings have been completed.
  • Counsel business leaders on day-to-day requests regarding corporate legal matters.
  • Notarize legal documents as required.
  • Writes, reviews and advises on legal contracts and agreements. 
  • Advises leadership on tax matters, government regulations, and/or legal rights.
  • Partner with the HR Compliance Manager on highly sensitive employment issues.


You bring the following QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ideally, degree qualified with at least 5+ years post qualification experience in commercial law OR equivalent experience relevant to the role
  • Recent experience of working for a law firm or in house legal department 
  • Strong knowledge and familiarity with corporate law and commercial law in both Canada and US
  • Able to work independently, prioritize and manage large complex workloads to tight deadlines
  • A proactive, solutions driven approach 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility and commitment to accommodate additional work demands as required
  • Current member of a law society in Canada or US


The preferred location of the successful candidate will be Vancouver, British Columbia. Potential flexibility for the role to be North America remote dependent on business needs

Base salary range is determined based on Vancouver market assessment. May vary depending on location of the successful candidate


Base Salary Range: $120,000—$155,000 CAD
