Head of People Operations

Culture is making it easier to scale-up and manufacture products using biology. We're recruiting a Head of People Operations to attract, develop, and challenge amazing people. This role reports to the CEO. 

What you will do:

• Understand our business as a whole and develop recommendations & initiatives around training, culture and DE&I, creating the best environment for employees to thrive
• Listen to and collaborate with the entire team to articulate, synthesize, and evolve the company culture
• Own the design, implementation, and management of HR processes, including: competitive compensation/benefits planning; scalable on-boarding programs; and talent development/performance management across the organization
• Develop and lead a first-rate in-house recruiting, hiring, and onboarding function
• Drive the evolution of HR policies and practices within the company by identifying opportunities to improve and make fact and market-based recommendations 
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal expectations and partner with colleagues and consultants in legal and finance areas for people-related topics
• Be hands-on with daily operational HR needs

About you:

• You’re curious, empathetic, and reflective
• You’re able to easily build trusting relationships
• You have at least 5 years of experience working in people operations or human resources and at least 3 years of experience working as a manager
• Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
• Experience supporting a diverse workforce including exempt and non-exempt roles
• Plus: work experience in a high-growth organization

Your Schedule:

• This role will be full time and based on site at our South San Francisco facility, with flexibility for some remote work days.
