Head of Environmental Sustainability

Reporting to the President of LiveWire, this role will play a key role in defining, implementing, supporting key initiatives across the enterprise, and improving the methodologies and employee engagement required for success at LiveWire and contributing to the sustainability goals of Harley-Davidson. 

Job responsibilities

Strategy and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Oversee all aspects of cross-functional sustainability and impact agenda, including environmental stewardship, supply chain responsibility, industry collaboration, and stakeholder outreach
  • Provide thought leadership to department and channel leaders and other operating teams on a broad range of issues at the intersection of business and sustainability
  • Develop, socialize, advance, lead and track enterprise progress on LiveWire’s sustainability vision, roadmap, and strategic initiatives
  • Assist senior leaders, including the LiveWire Board of Directors, to understand emerging environmental, social and governance (ESG), trends, risk and opportunities within the industry

Disclosure and Reporting

  • Lead LiveWire’s sustainability reporting, including developing the overarching strategic narrative for sustainability and supporting product of LiveWire’s annual sustainability report
  • Manage LiveWire’s sustainability data collection and framework to inform decision-making, enterprise risk and return, and scenario analysis/planning
  • Oversee and implement sustainability rankings, ratings, and disclosures

Industry Trends and Benchmarking

  • Develop a portfolio of sustainability innovations, collaborations, and projects, using a “test and learn” approach to identify, explore, develop, and refine innovations that could potentially scale to enterprise actions.
  • Research and use stakeholder data and analytics to help embed LiveWire’s strategic sustainability narrative into stakeholder engagement plans that have broad impact to LiveWire’s reputation and the direction of the business
  • Communicate, when appropriate, externally to relevant industry organizations, investors and non-governmental organizations on LiveWire’s sustainability strategy and goals

Experience Required

  • Proven leadership skills and experience with publicly listed companies in setting sustainability goals, aligning the appropriate resources to support business needs, inspiring and motivating peers and employees to perform at high levels, and delegating responsibility while holding oneself and others accountable for achieving results
  • Familiarity with existing and emerging sustainability corporate reporting frameworks, such as the International Sustainable Standards Board and the Global Reporting Initiative, and climate specific frameworks such as TCFD and SBTI
  • A thought leader who will challenge thinking, business clients and senior management in appropriate ways and in appropriate situations, a thoughtful resource for difficult decisions
  • Ability to function independently while maintaining and promoting an environment of accountability, teamwork, collaboration, and shared knowledge and ideas
  • Build team capability with a focus on evolving industry trends, building business partnerships, and developing deep subject matter expertise
  • Intellectual curiosity and voracity to stay abreast of environmental sustainability issues at all levels (science, government, politics, stakeholder sentiment from investors to employees to dealers and customers, standards, NGOs/civil society priorities, etc.)
