Head of Employee Wellbeing Strategy

New Brunswick, NJ

The Global Head of Employee Wellbeing will shape, define and bring to life effective approaches and strategies to improve and maintain best in class employee total wellbeing (healthy minds, healthy eating, healthy movement). Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with key stakeholders across the enterprise (Senior Executives, HR leaders, external vendors and other stakeholders) and within Total Rewards to strengthen the long-term vision and strategy concerning employee wellbeing; drive the execution of this strategy globally.
  • Understand the varied H&W needs of a diverse associate population to develop effective and potentially innovative solutions to support J&J’s H&W priorities. This role will play a key role in shaping our Health and Wellbeing Strategy to deliver on our 2025 Health for Humanity Goals.
  • Lead a high performing team of leaders in the areas of mental health and wellbeing, physical health, nutrition and movement as well as a broader global community of H&W practitioners, champions and local advocates. Member of the GHS leadership team to enable cross-functional solutions and promote the integration of H&W strategies within its broader business, benefits and Total Rewards pillars.
  • Work closely with regional HR, Total Rewards and GHS leaders to deliver best in class solutions to regional and business needs. Lead the assessment, selection, negotiations and management with various Business Process Outsourcing solutions and design and implementation of supporting technologies. 
  • Serve as a visible advocate and spokesperson across the enterprise and engage key stakeholders (ADA, External Innovation teams and key business leaders) to reinforce the strategic importance of building H&W at J&J.
  • It also provides deep subject matter expertise and engages in conversations with senior Global and Regional leaders on decisions to address health and wellbeing needs and risks.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Own the design, strategy and communications of our employee Wellbeing programs and processes including but not limited to: wellbeing programs and tools, metrics and reporting, incentive programs and other global initiatives (Integrated Health and Wellbeing solutions, Mental Health and Wellbeing strategy, Employee Assistance Programs, Fitness Centers strategy and digital tools, Global Activity Challenges etc). Lead the integrated design and strategy of how we deliver H&W programs focusing on the employee experience and digital solutions.
  • Define, design and deliver comprehensive, competitive and sustainable employee wellbeing programs that support the short and long-term enterprise Total Rewards strategies and Company goals. Develop policies, programs and objectives and ensure they are reviewed and amended as needed, based on external changes (legislation, laws) and/or internal processes and practices.
  • Responsible for leading a high performing and highly skilled global team and for developing a strong pipeline of global, diverse leaders within Total Rewards and across the HR Function. Enable a Credo-based & High-Performance Culture within Total Rewards teams.
  • Partner within GHS, Total Rewards, HR, Business Leaders and other key stakeholders on strategies, design, and competitive analysis along with collaborating with Legal to ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and contractual obligations. External focus to benchmark best in class tools and solutions
  • Partners with procurement on RFP and RFI processes and manage relationship with key external providers. (Castlight, Optum, Health fitness and others). Ensure providers are delivering against KPIs.
  • Maintain awareness of changes to laws and marketplace products and services as well as potential impact of those laws, products and services on current and future processes and services


Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required. An advanced degree is highly desirable (MBA, Master’s/Ph.D. in HR, or health care related discipline). 
  • A minimum of 12 years of progressive business experience.  Experience designing, managing and implementing HR strategies or Employee Health Care / Wellbeing programs is required. Health care marketing can be another area of experience. 
  • Strong business acumen; understanding of key global business trends (e.g., organizational functions, regulatory, legal, economic conditions) is required.
  • Vendor management experience is desired.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and to translate strategic directives into tactical initiatives and broad Employee Value proposition communication strategies.
  • Strong collaboration skills across business lines and geographies
  • Excellent executive presentation skills, ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely, and to influence others to think through problems, improvement opportunities, solutions, and plans
  • Global scope and experience is desired.
  • This position is located in New Brunswick, NJ and may require up to 15 % domestic and international travel.
