Head of Business Operations

Millions of people across the world come to Pinterest to find new ideas every day. It’s where they get inspiration, dream about new possibilities and plan for what matters most. Our mission is to help those people find their inspiration and create a life they love. In your role, you’ll be challenged to take on work that upholds this mission and pushes Pinterest forward. You’ll grow as a person and leader in your field, all the while helping Pinners make their lives better in the positive corner of the internet.

Our new progressive work model is called PinFlex, a term that’s uniquely Pinterest to describe our flexible approach to living and working. Visit our PinFlex landing page to learn more.

The mission of the Business Operations & Strategy team is to align Pinterest’s execution to its strategy. As a senior member of the team you’ll drive critical business insights for our Executives while partnering with leaders throughout Pinterest to fundamentally improve how we execute. With a combination of exceptional analytical skills, an insatiable curiosity, and an entrepreneurial, “get stuff done” mindset, you’ll help us better understand our Pinners, Advertisers, Merchants, Creators, Products, and drive changes that will shape the future of Pinterest. We have several openings including roles that support our Growth, Revenue & GTM, Shopping, and Strategic Planning & Initiatives teams.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the Rhythms for a Specific Area of the Business. Develop a deep understanding of our overall business and how our different products and go-to-market investments layer into our broader strategy. Define critical KPIs for regular reporting, develop forward-looking assessments (forecasts and scenarios), and own operating rhythms to help teams manage performance and create operational rigor. Be the primary point person with our leadership team on understanding metrics movements and trends in our consumer product, and provide data-driven insights on nascent business questions.
  • Explore New Business Opportunities. Frame and size new potential long-term growth opportunities for Pinterest. Develop business cases and recommendations that shape executive team conviction and decisions around new areas of investment, and help drive the “follow through” of those recommendations to ensure smooth execution with a diverse array of cross-functional partners. Tackle ambiguous strategic questions facing the business. Partner with leaders throughout Pinterest to build business cases for new business initiatives.
  • Drive Annual and Quarterly Strategic Planning. Work with senior leaders to update their strategic priorities and goals on a regular basis, as well as update our executive team on progress against these strategic priorities. Design and coordinate strategic and operational planning processes across the enterprise to ensure maximum organizational alignment.
  • Help Scale the Team. Help build out processes for a small (but mighty) team. Help build our influence across the organization to tackle each of the above for your coverage area.

What we’re looking for:

  • 10+ years of experience in a variety of strategic, analytical and operational roles. You thrive on combining rigorous data-driven analysis, strong business and product intuition and judgment, and an ability to work well across a variety of teams to solve complex problems. You’ve likely had Biz Ops, consulting, investing, analytics, growth, and/or product management experience in a prior life. Consumer internet or eCommerce industry experience is a plus.
  • Ability to operate “full stack” while also developing others. You can self-sufficiently conduct research, analyze data to ask and answer your own questions, visualize data in high signal-to-noise ways that make insights clear and compelling to executives, and create project structure and execution plans to drive swift action from those insights, while also mentoring growing more junior members of the team to eventually be able to do the same.
  • Structured “systems” thinker who also loves the details. When engaging with a problem, you balance a focus on quick wins and actionability with ways to help Pinterest efficiently solve that problem at scale through systems and repeatable processes, and are comfortable diving into the operational details with the analytical, data, product, and engineering teams that you will be closely partnered with to make it happen.
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter. You thrive in a fast-moving environment and are independently capable of seeking information, corralling resources, and delivering results without waiting for direction.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills. You can move seamlessly between conversing with engineers or frontline ops employees and leading presentations with senior executives. You have a proven ability to influence without authority and build strong working relationships with business partners; this is a highly cross-functional role, so a low ego and a high instinct for collaboration are musts.
  • Our PinFlex future of work philosophy requires this role to visit a Pinterest office for collaboration approximately 2x per quarter. For employees not located within a commutable distance from this in-office touchpoint, Pinterest will cover T&E. Learn more about PinFlex here.
