Global Head of Enterprise Compliance

The Global Head of Enterprise Compliance is responsible for leading BlackRock’s operationally focused and globally managed, enterprise compliance programs. These programs include privacy, monitoring and testing and employee-related compliance activities as well as key components of the department’s management information and reporting processes. This role reports directly to the Global Head of Compliance and is located in New York.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the team focused on the following primary areas:
  • Employee-related compliance activities, including personal trading, outside activities, private investments, gifts and entertainment, business integrity, and U.S. political contributions 
  • Data protection and privacy team on the implementation of a global privacy program
  • Risk-based compliance monitoring and testing program
  • Management reporting and communications, with a focus on strengthening and improving messaging to internal and external stakeholders
  • Implement improvements to our broader global compliance program with goal of exceeding regulatory expectations and setting industry standards 
  • Partner with our technology team to identify and implement state-of-the-art technology that both streamlines processes and reduces risk across our compliance programs
  • Serve as a leader and representative of the compliance function across several leadership committees, including, but not limited to, the Legal & Compliance Senior Leadership Team, Outside Activities, Privacy and the Business Integrity forum
  • Provide thought leadership on the impact and implementation of regulation to our business partners and form strong relationships with key individuals within the business, Compliance and other control functions. 
  • Participate in industry forums and events to remain current on regulatory changes and industry developments and serve as a spokesperson for BlackRock to and from those forums
  • Cultivate and enhance our strong BlackRock compliance culture by identifying ways to embed compliance and risk mitigation in all that we do and by role modeling compliance-first behaviors across the team
  • Develop and foster excellence within and across the Compliance teams


Experience, Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • University degree in Finance/Accounting/Law/Business/Economics with recognized professional qualifications preferred 
  • At least 15-20 years relevant working experience in investment compliance at an asset manager or other financial service organization
  • Demonstrated understanding of the regulatory environment and track record of successful implementation of regulator standards into business processes 
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems and then successfully implement solutions
  • Proven ability to effectively manage a large, global, team prioritizing work and adhering to deadlines
  • Excellent communication and partnership skills across a range of stakeholders
  • Exhibits the highest ethical judgement standards
  • Team player who is sensitive to the needs of the functional business units and other stakeholders
