Global Environmental Policy Manager

The Public Policy and Government Affairs (PPGA) team helps PepsiCo navigate the increasingly volatile and complex policy and regulatory landscape in which our company operates. By anticipating opportunities and risks, we facilitate positive environments and avoid discriminatory regulations. Further, our proactive engagement with a range of external stakeholders ensures PepsiCo has a seat at the negotiating table and allows us to help shape fair policies that are science-based and protect consumer choice.


In this role, you will sit within the Global Public Policy team, supporting the work of the Global Environmental Policy team and global Corporate Affairs function to help PepsiCo achieve its PepsiCo Positive sustainability ambition and goals by fostering efficiency through cross-sector and cross-business alignment and best practices. 


This is a hybrid role located either in Purchase, NY or Washington, DC.


Responsibilities

  • Synthesize and evaluate relevant global environmental policy trends, stakeholder action and emerging issues to help shape and inform PepsiCo’s sustainability strategies and initiatives with a particular focus on sustainable packaging policies, water, climate and agriculture
  • Lead development and execution of internal capacity building efforts on PepsiCo’s environmental policy positions and engagement strategies
  • Collaborate with Government Affairs function to ensure environmental policy positions and priorities are well understood and aligned with advocacy approaches
  • Support other business functions in external communication and ESG disclosure efforts on PepsiCo’s policy positions
  • Support the business by managing regulatory and consumer/reputational risks related to environmental policy
  • Lead internal capabilities building on policy positions and engagement strategies enabling pep+


Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $98,700 - $ 165,150 based on a full-time schedule
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 12% of annual salary paid out annually.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of public affairs or sustainability experience, including relevant experience in a company, trade association, non-profit and/or consulting group
  • Sound knowledge of environmental policy issues affecting CPG industry, specifically as they relate to collection and recycling policies
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and oral), including ability to build compelling and clear educational materials for different audiences on critical issues


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in relevant field, background in public policy and/or sustainability
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with people from different cultural and professional backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively, take responsibility for a project, set the right priorities and adapt quickly in fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Ability to work independently, proactively and efficiently with little supervision in matrix organization
