Financial Reporting Analyst

Purpose is looking for an exceptional individual that is prepared to take on multiple responsibilities to help Purpose succeed in its business initiatives. The role will support the Director, Financial Reporting and Tax with interim and annual financial reporting for Canadian investment funds, including working with external auditors, custodian & fund administrator, prime brokers, and various counter-parties to complete timely accurate financial reporting close.

The individual will be involved in working within the Fund Operations team and liaise as needed with the compliance & legal and product teams to achieve daily, weekly, monthly and annual goals. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, well-organized, detail orientated, able to think critically, and looking to grow with the organization.


Overview of some tasks and processes assigned to the role:

  • Responsible for ensuring the smooth performance of all Purpose and affiliate products, assisting on the daily, monthly and annual operations of the funds from a financial reporting standpoint;
  • Coordinating the production of the financial statements of over 100 investment funds on an annual and interim basis;
  • Coordinating the production of the Management Report of Fund Performance on an annual and interim basis;
  • Working with the fund’s Auditor to both support successful audit outcomes and to create an efficient and functional client/auditor relationship;
  • Working with the fund’s Administrator and Custodian to support the audit in an effective manner;
  • Coordinating the production of Fund Facts and ETF Facts on an annual and as required basis. 
  • Working with our partners to produce Fund Facts and ETF Facts accurately, on time, and in an efficient manner.  
  • Work with management on new product concepts and launching new products;
  • Supporting the teams in the preparation of documents for prospectus filings, renewals and fund launches;
  • Daily responsibility of ensuring smooth operation of all Purpose products, including managing the cash balances of each fund, reconciling day-to-day fund performance, and monitoring the currency hedging and leverage programs on the funds.
  • Maintaining and building financial models to achieve oversight over Fund Expense Ratios, leverage constraints, and budgeting for fund operating expenses 
  • Completing monthly fund processes including distribution calculations, management expense ratio calculations, oversight of fund expenses, and other various monthly management reporting items.
  • Ad hoc project work as required.



  • 3-5 years of investment industry experience is a must;
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field, plus possesses or is actively working towards a professional degree in either accounting or finance (CPA, CFA etc.);
  • Direct experience within the investment fund industry, with a strong knowledge of investment funds financial reporting and tax reporting within the regulatory and accounting standards rules for Canadian Investment Funds under IFRS;
  • Outstanding computer skills and the ability to work with and build financial models;
  • A quick learner with the ability to analyze and interpret various data and develop logical solutions;
  • Exceptional time management, organizational and multi-tasking abilities;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
