Financial Communications Specialist

AECOM is seeking a Financial Communications Specialist to support our Corporate External Communications team that can be primarily remote based from a variety of US locations, with a preference for either Los Angeles, CA or New York, NY for proximity to other Communications team members.


The job responsibilities include:

  • The Communications job family is responsible for keeping stockholders, employees, the general public, and the financial community informed of company activities, objectives and accomplishments through the conceptualization, preparation, publication, and distribution of annual and interim reports to stockholders, news releases, Web content, multimedia, and video productions.
  • Proficient at communicating effectively; possesses proven writing, editing, and/or photography skills.
  • Under general supervision, performs work that is varied and requires the application of sound professional judgment, using independent analysis on details of work with evaluation, originality and ingenuity.
  • Prepares or assists in the preparation of articles, reports, news releases, and/or video productions.
  • Displays the knowledge and ability to apply professional level techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related communication duties.
  • Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Contributes to the completion of organizational projects and goals.


Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Partner with the Communications and Investor Relations teams in the creation of press releases, earnings & other call scripts, conference presentations, Q&A sheets, meeting booklets, Board presentations, and messaging documents.
  • Develop both internal and external communications materials, presentations, speeches, and associated execution strategies.
  • Develop and create presentations used by C-suite executives, aligned with the overall communications strategy.
  • Regularly engage with key stakeholders across the organization to fully understand AECOM’s strategic priorities and business performance to ensure any communications materials are aligned with the current business environment.
  • Contribute to leadership communications to corporate audiences, as well as to broader AECOM organization.
  • Collaborate on media outreach strategies and plans to favorably position AECOM with business/financial outlets.
  • Identify adjacent communications opportunities to leverage existing materials and expertise by contributing to other, related communications campaigns or initiatives.


About Corporate—General

  • As a member of the corporate team, you will work with professionals at our headquarters in California and in business offices around the world to advance AECOM’s global strategies and priorities. With positions around the globe, the Corporate team includes finance, legal, human resources, information technology, marketing and communications, and real estate functions.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Communications, or related field plus 2 years of relevant marketing/communications experience either at a communications agency or consultancy, or in an in-house corporate communications role, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education


Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience providing communications support for IRO or C-suite executives preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with senior level executives and stakeholders; strong team player.
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong organizational skills – ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Consultative, service-oriented mindset and collaborative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong financial acumen with an understanding of and familiarity with financial markets, SEC filings, and the investment community.
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience involving extensive work with complex spreadsheets.
  • Team player with excellent listening skills and diplomacy; willingness to work with multiple different colleagues on a variety of initiative
