Finance Manager

Baltimore, MD

Under Armour is looking for a Finance Manager to lead Customs & Transfer Pricing. This individual will be responsible for leading the development of the financial analysis used to inform the appropriate customs valuation for the Company’s global imports and the intercompany pricing for the Company’s legal entities globally. The individual will also be responsible for the global and cross-functional implementation, ongoing evaluation, and support the defense of the customs valuations and intercompany pricing.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist the Vice President, Global Tax with the development of the Company’s customs valuation and transfer pricing strategy in each of the Company’s importation jurisdictions; including partnering with the corporate, regional, and supply chain finance teams to achieve the best overall tax position for customs duties and income taxes
  • Partner with cross-functional and global teams to determine customs valuation and transfer pricing implications of new transaction flows, distribution methods, market launches, and software systems
  • Lead, develop and implement an annual customs valuation financial analysis review process for each of our jurisdictions, leveraging information from our finance and accounting teams and our external customs and transfer pricing resources
  • Create and periodically update customs valuation documentation files for each jurisdiction
  • Lead cross-functional projects to implement changes to transfer pricing transactions and customs valuations including obtaining customs rulings where required
  • Manage valuation aspects of customs audits and related regulatory issues
  • Analyze and interpret customs valuation guidance and communicate to stakeholders
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on customs valuation projects and issues
  • Develop and lead education sessions for the Company’s global, regional, and local offices on customs valuation and intercompany transactions for supply chain, legal, accounting, and finance teammates
  • Assist with other ad hoc projects for the global tax, finance, and supply chain teams 


Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Excellent financial modeling and analysis skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required 
  • Strong track record of identifying key questions; defining, performing and coordinating analyses; and communicating findings in a clear and concise way.
  • Critical thinker with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal, skills
  • Self-starter; ability to be productive with limited oversight
  • Ability to lead projects with cross functional teammates at all levels
  • Ability to multi–task and manage concurrent projects with high levels of complexity
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels (including executive team) and articulate ideas, analyze results, and make actionable recommendations
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and commitment to challenging the status-quo to make things better
  • Ability to work independently and identify information and/or resources needed to complete assignments


Education And / Or Experience

  • 5 - 7 years of experience in finance (commercial, supply chain, or legal entity/transfer pricing)
  • BA/BS Degree – Finance, Economics, Accounting, Supply Chain, or other related degree
  • Strong understanding of global commercial trade finance and economics


Other Requirements

  • Knowledge of the consumer products industry preferred
  • Basic understanding of global tax principles (i.e. VAT, customs duty, income tax) a plus
  • Basic understanding of global customs processes, incoterms, and foreign trade agreement principles a plus
