Finance Manager

Toronto, ON

The Customer Finance Manager will be a key business partner with the Revenue Growth Management (RGM) team in driving topline revenue growth while improving customer profitability. The role will be responsible for providing profitability analysis on our National Retail Sales (NRS) and Foodservice On Premise (FSOP) customer agreements for Trade Board and management approval. The individual will also lead the process of reviewing the financial aspects of the annual Customer Marketing Agreement (CMA) to ensure trade spending is in adherence to budget and business plan. Working with the sales and operating team to understand the operating model and route to market for each customer for reflecting accurate operating expense in the financial analysis. Manage and mentor 2 Financial Analysts. 

  • A demonstrated leader who can provide sound economic analysis to steward decision making on new customer agreement or renewal. 
  • Strong financial modeling skill and understanding of P&L (Profit & Loss Statement)
  • Strong communicator who is able to articulate business rationale supported by financial metrics. Provide consultation to business for delivering optimal financial result. 
  • Stakeholder management, cross-functional collaboration and workflow management are required for the successful candidate. 
  • Motivated to challenge status quo and drive continuous improvement.
  • Comfortable presenting ideas and results in formal and informal meetings. 
  • Team player who can effectively collaborate with cross-functional team to understand revenue and cost implication on customer deals.


Responsibilities

  • Base Duties Include:
  • Create financial model and profitability analysis for customer agreements in collaboration with Sales and Operations. 
  • Submit Request For Approval (RFA) for trade board and management approval.
  • Review customer legal contracts to ensure financial terms are properly reflected against approved financial metrics in the RFA. 
  • Key member in weekly Trade Board approval cadence to review customer agreement financial.
  • Administration of franchise partner funding associated with customer agreements. Working with Finance Shared Services to ensure funding is properly recorded in financial statement.
  • Tracking of financial commitment for FSOP contractual customers.


Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business 
  • Preferred Level: MBA or CPA, CA, CMA


Experience

  • Minimum Required: 5 years 
  • Preferred Level: Greater than 7 years
  • Experience supporting a sales and commercial organization in a financial capacity is strongly preferred


Minimum Required Skills

Leadership and Communication Skills

  • Critical thinking and ability to influence and steward conversation with facts.
  • Comfortable speaking up in formal / informal meeting setting.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial metrics into easy to understand business logic for non-finance audience.
  • Former experience in supporting business negotiation is an asset. 


Advanced Financial Analysis

  • Excellent financial modeling and Excel skills.
  • Ability to establish sound assumptions using proper benchmarking and business logic. 
  • Perform analyses that require the application of single or multiple financial and non-financial concepts and tools, e.g... NPV, IRR, Discounted Cash Flow, loss projection as well as exposure and risk assessment. 


Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Knowledge of international, Canadian or local GAAP. This includes the ability to apply these principles and determine compliance with the principles.
